Shazam - never ask what a song is ever again. Have the phone listen to it and tell you. Pandora - never be without the ability to listen to whatever music genre strikes your fancy ever again. Kindle - work your way into the e-book world and always have something to read. Plenty of free books available to see if you can manage it without spending a dime.

Check out Epic Citadel. It's free and you'll be amazed that it actually runs on the iPhone.

Galcon. Simple and addictive game, up to 4 players online FFA and team based modes. Don't think I've ever spent as much time on a cell phone game as I have Galcon, especially since it's online.

AroundMe - always find the closest gas station, coffee shop, bar, etc, etc... UrbanSpoon - great app to resolve the age old question "where do you want to eat tonight?" Fluent News - best news app available as it pulls from every major news organization (you can customize it, I removed Fox News) and sorts into sections Tapatalk - Great app that makes browsing forums much easier (forum has to support tapatalk and thankfully OO, GT, and QT3 all do) MobileRSS - Integrates with Google Reader for a pretty nice RSS reader Undercroft - brand new free RPG, very reminiscent of Dungeon Master and other old-school hardcore RPG's.

Shazam - never ask what a song is ever again. Have the phone listen to it and tell you. SoundHound can also do this, but unlike Shazam it will even let you sing a song and identify it (it's not as accurate unless you're a really good singer, but it's a nice option).

Games are fun and all, but here's the apps I consider must-haves.
Instapaper - bookmark stuff from any web browser and download for phone-formatted, offline reading. Twitter - if you're into that sort of thing. The official app is the best one out there, in my opinion. NewsRack - far and away the best Google Reader/RSS app I've found for iDevices. NYTimes - The site is fine, but if you get the app, you can read offline, which is valuable for elevators and such. Pandora - as discussed. Never be without any kind of music. Kindle The Weather Channel Netflix Navigon, if you want a GPS nav program

In no particular order:
Facebook - self-explanatory Twitter - self-explanatory. Best Twitter app CNN (Paid) - self-explanatory NPR News - self-explanatory The Weather Channel - self-explanatory ESPN ScoreCenter - Keep up with the latest scores and livecast of games - pro and college Amazon.com - Amazon at your fingertips AT&T My Wireless - View your usage (voice and data), pay your bill, and edit your plan from your phone eBay - full-feature eBay from your phone Slacker - Much more granular control of your stations than Pandora, IMO iMovie - create and edit full HD videos on your phone Camera Sutra (Paid) - adds some cool photo-booth effects to the front-facing camera Hipstamatic (Paid) - adds old school camera effects to the rear camera Photoshop Express - add filters and basic editing of photos on your phone Mill Colour - Similar to Photoshop Express TiltShiftGen (Paid) - more photo filters, etc Pixelpipe - Upload photos and full-res videos to different web hubs, such as Facebook Speed Test - self-explanatory iHandy Level - self-explanatory Fandango - Check movie times and purchase tickets from your phone Flixster - Check movie times and reviews via Rotten Tomatoes AppShopper - Track apps' price drops, etc...nice addon to the Apple app store

The apps I use all the time are:
List!: Allows me to make lists about anything I please. I have a "google this" list, "movies to watch" list, "books to read" list, etc etc. You know how you always think 'Man I've gotta do this/check this out" but then you never do because you totally forget about it? Well this program helps me not forget. So next time when I go to the video store, instead of dinking around wondering what movie I should watch I'll have a full list of stuff I'm interested in seeing. It's not perfect yet-it doesn't do reminders very well but I'm hoping they improve it.
iXpenseit: Every time I make a purchase I use this. It keeps track of all my expenses and income each month and shows me in graph form exactly where my money is going (or where it's coming from)

Games that rock: - Chaos Rings is my favorite iPhone game to date - Fruit Ninja - Baseball Superstars 2010 - Angry Birds - Scrabble - Sally's Spa (looks ridiculous, but it's incredibly addicting) - Space Miner (an asteroids clone that might be one of the funniest games ever) - Peggle - Sword & Poker 2 - A ton of other suggestions in the iphone game thread

Rise from your grave!!!!
I will soon be switching over to the Dark Side. I will have an iPhone 4S in my hands hopefully tomorrow, otherwise on Monday. Are these still good apps to get, or have newer ones replaced them? I really would like a good turn-by-turn GPS, but I'm looking for other suggestions too.

Waze GPS: Free and crowdsourced traffic.
Shazam still comes in handy on occasion. Pandora is a life-saver while I work to this day. And I still read more books on Kindle than I do in any other format, especially now that public library lending is available through it.
Tapatalk for forum browsing on the go is a must.
I use iFitness to track my workouts, Lose It! to track my weight, Netflix to get me through my workouts
Twitter when I have nothing else to do but read my celebrities' brain droppings.
IMDB is great. The Wikipedia app I use about 50% of the time, the others going tstraight to the website.

Make sure to get and post your Game Center ID somewhere here if you are into multiplayer gaming.
A few of us are starting to rev up on the (mostly asynchronous) gaming scene, which has been quite a nice diversion.
Words for Friends - Scrabble-lite (2 player only) Poker Pals - poker/scrabble puzzle game (2 player) Kard Combat - MTG-lite (2 player) Uniwar - TBS space game (8 player and multi-platform)
