We are processing your order and will send you an email confirmation shortly. Ordered white one, 32GB and a light grey Smart Cover (for now). Now I'm researching where I can park that will be as close to the store as possible (it's in a mall). Or I'll buy something big at a Brookstone and then hide the iPad in there. Or I'll disguise myself as a potted plant and gradually move out of the mall... oooo..... should have gone with the 64 gig.

Well, I'm sure the Newer NewTM iPad will be out next year, I'll get jealous, and then I can pass the wimpy 32GB on to my brother's family and think Big next time.

I too was a bit paranoid when I bought mine--I live in Baltimore, after all. But I was fine walking it to the car.

I'm synching. I'll share a photo or something soon. Nowadays they just give you this white plastic drawstring bag, and it's fairly anonymous. So I didn't have to go all Splinter Cell back to the car in the garage, but I did try to "hug the wall" so as to hide the apple symbol. In fact, on the way into the mall, I saw this guy who obviously had just bought an iPad 2, and he seemed to be making a concerted effort to tuck it under his left armpit like a baby, and stay close to the wall on that side. The Apple Genuis guy was actually extremely nice. He did try to soft sell me on the AppleCare stuff for a few seconds but I decided to skip it and he was fine with that. It was cool that the packaging for the iPad and cover each had my name on a printed label on it. And that he could process the order via his iPhone and some scanner gizmo. I failed miserably in trying to sign on his device with my finger (he said not to use my nail, but signing with my finger tip felt like using a crayon). We had a good laugh over my Nokia brick cellphone (circa 2004). I'm sure I'll join the iPhone crowds some day. Maybe next birthday. Thanks everybody for answering my various questions, which sort of helped put me at ease and give me some ideas. I did swing by Best Buy first to get Belkin's simple plastic "Snap Shield" for the back. A BB employee helped me find the 3rd generation-specific version. I had a $5 rewards coupon so it was $25. Fits well and works very nicely in tandem with the Smart Cover. Our conversation was funny because I just didn't want to tell him I was getting mine at an Apple store soon... "So, you have the New iPad?" "Uh... yeah!" "How is it?" "Oh. Uh. It's great!" "Yeah I like to ask people how they like it compared to iPad 2. See if they notice anything different." "Um. I wouldn't know." I'm a terrible liar (well the last part was true, I haven't owned an older model).

HERE is my first iPad touchscreen post here. aaaaaaaaaaaie! if only ihad smaller hands. :-) thinking maybe the grey cover was a bad choices as it is already dirty :-D But the GT forums load quickly and display nicely in Safari. haven't tried the forum app yet. The Belkin back is OK, but it picks up finger prints like a magnet. Maybe I need fingerprint color case parts :-D My Korea trip pix from June 2011 look so amazing on this :-) Can't wait to share that with family this weekend. --------------- I did find that most of my videos look awful as they're not bleeding edge resolution.

On an iPad, I find the Tapatalk app to be more of an annoyance than a convenience. I find it useful on the iPhone though.

I am stumped on Gmail. It works fine on my iPod Touch (I can't delete e-mails in the Touch but I can check e-mails and send/receive them). For some reason the iPad setup keeps telling me the username and password are wrong even though it's exactly the same as I use on desktop and on the Touch.

The iPad has a much better camera now (but no flash), so an iPad pic of an iPod Touch could be slightly less ironic. I'm at a loss about the e-mail. I'll, oh hell I'll get some sleep and research it in the morning.

OK just in case anyone else runs into this issue, if you're using Gmail's additional 2-step verification, you have to set up a one-time password for use on any additional devices. Application-specific passwords
Some applications that work outside a browser aren't yet compatible with 2-step verification and cannot ask for verification codes, for example: Apps on smartphones such as Android, BlackBerry or iPhone Mail clients such as Microsoft Outlook Chat clients such as Google Talk or AIM To use these applications, you first need to generate an application-specific password. Next, enter that in the password field of your application instead of your regular password. You can create a new application-specific password for each application that needs one. Learn more That worked! Yay!

Thanks. I didn't mean to be so self-promotional, but even at the Apple Store, I told him I was telling my online buds I'd get an Ipad for my birthday. My bro and I hope to finally catch Cabin in the Woods today, and I'm taking the iPad to lunch to show off to a pal. I'm carrying it in my... man purse, I mean, messenger bag, for protection.

At least I don't know how. am confused on the iPad calendar though - I don't see a way to add an event/appointment? And on my Week Calendar app, on iPad I can't set alerts or events. says calendar 'not set' yet. kinda stumped?

See this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3661392?start=0&tstart=0Apparently, even if you don't synch to the Cloud, you still have to enable cal there under iCloud settings, or else the + sign doesn't appear. So that fixed that and the the alert option not appearing in the add on app. My 17 year old rock musician nephew had a blast with Garage band and he and my niece enjoyed Spelltower on it.

Namatoki's apostrophe tip (swipe up on comma key; you can do the same on the period key for quote marks) made me search up a useful MacWorld column: iPad Power tips (dates back to just before iPad 2's launch, but still useful) http://www.macworld.com/article/1158382/ipad_power_user_tips.html*Another tip there was that the iPad's dock on the main home screen can hold up to 6 apps (just has a default 4 setting in line with other iOS products), just drag a couple more down there if you want: Although I'm reasonably OK on space (about 7.7GB of the usable 27.9GB space), I'm thinking CeeKay was right about the 64GB model. I don't plan to shove a bunch of movies on it though, and I'm gradually weeding out some games I don't play or that don't look good in the "2X" upsized form on iPad. I definitely wouldn't recommend an iPad under the 32GB size unless you plan to stay away from apps or intend to stream Everything.

Got a contacts question -- why can't I get my iPod Touch's contacts onto my iPad? Are they like totally separate contacts programs or something? I've checked under the Contacts synch tab in iTunes, but I don't really see any setting along the lines of "copy my iPod Touch's contacts to iPad." There's just some settings relating to importing Windows contacts to the iOS device.

If you sync them to iCloud, they'll sync between all iOS devices.

I used the free Bump app instead: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bump/id305479724?mt=8If you don't feel like using the iCloud stuff, it's a kinda fun way to transfer contacts and photos from one device to another (whether your own, or to someone else's).

I finally got a different case, Targus' Versavu Rotating Case/Stand:http://www.targus.com/us/ipad/versavu.aspxI took it out of its package and tinkered with it at Best Buy yesterday before deciding it was a good fit for how I use mine, plus it supports the magnetic on/off feature. I went with the grey color (looked brown to me), as they didn't have the white/grey color there and it was sort of an impulse buy. What's cool is it has 3 different viewing angles with indents in the velour lining (in BOTH landscape and portrait mode), so it's very sturdy at any angle. You can also flip it over and brace the iPad with a tab (the side that has the stylus holder loop), but I'm not sure I understand the point of that, as it's not a very different angle from the others. The rotating feature had always confused me (I thought maybe it made the case like a rotating Lazy Susan type disc). It just means you can quickly rotate the ipad without removing it from the case, and the three indents also work to adjust the viewing angle in portrait mode. It doesn't have a low-angle option expressly for typing like a Smart Cover, but the lowest angle it does have seems OK for modest screen keyboarding. The cover's pretty fingerprint proof and water resistant. There's a hole in the back to let the Apple logo shine through, but if you like to show off the iPad's aluminum back, it's not for you. As far as just holding the iPad or in your lap, the case is pretty grippy and it gives the case a bit more width to hang on to; but it's probably not what you want if you want the thinnest case possible or want to show off the ipad as much as possible. I find it great though from the standpoint of multiple stand-viewing angles in both portrait and landscape. Beefs? Just that since the fastening method is pretty old fashioned (an integrated elastic strap), if you don't use that, the auto-off feature does work but on occasion I can hear it pop back on briefly. I think maybe it's just a matter of the case hinge needing to get "broken in" a bit, something like that.

Hey I finally found just the right app for quickly transferring photos and videos between your own iOS devices (without needing the Cloud/Photostream, or even a Wi-Fi connection as it works well via Bluetooth), called Photo Transfer [handles videos too] http://www.phototransferapp.com/ipad/*It's $2.99, and then you can use it on any of your iOS devices. Although it requires a fair amount of tapping various icons, it's really easy to use. I transferred some pix yesterday via Bluetooth from my iPod to my iPad via Bluetooth; and earlier had copied over a couple of those WWII re-enactment vids as well via Wi-Fi. You can transfer up to 200 pix at once, downloaded selected pix as one zip, and transfer stuff to/from PCs/Macs/Linux, among other things. Mentioning here cause I had asked about an app that could do something like this and nobody knew. Now you know. They have an Android version too. The program I had been using (Bump) is still useful, esp. in transferring contacts or in copying photos to your pal's devices (Photo Transfer is just meant for copying between your own devices), but Bump won't transfer videos and is much less flexible in what it can do (imho).
