but I kinda understand the reason for putting it on there when it became a real franchise.
try a couple or mo so years after the least film came out  For its 1999 VHS re-issue, the film was remastered in THX and for the first time was made available in widescreen. The outer package was retitled Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark to correlate with the film's prequel and sequel. The subsequent DVD release in 2003 features this title as well. The title in the film itself remains unchanged, even in the restored DVD print. I think I still have the original VHS release with Temple of Doom advertised as 'coming soon' on it sitting around here somewhere. |

The story I heard was that Shia Labeuf(sp?) was asked about the name, and he said Lucas and Spielberg would kill him if he said, but he went ahead and said it anyway. My thought was that if he really gave up the name he'd be in big trouble, and the name sounded really stupid. So from that I am not convinced it is the real name.

I hate you. do you realize how much I want to read all of that article? you could have just left us ignorant!!!!!  I clicked on the link but didn't scroll down as soo as I saw the top of the picture- so basically all I saw as the opening paragraph (no spoilers in it but a very interesting comment): Annie Leibovitz gets exclusive access to the set, while Lucas, Spielberg, and their star, Harrison Ford, tell Jim Windolf about the long standoff over the plot, why critics and fans will be upset, and how they’ve updated Indy.
I may have to revisit the article after I see the movie. |

Great article. I haven't been consciously seeking spoilers but I'd heard enough hints that nothing in the article was very spoiler-y to me. I'm surprised there was so much resistance to Lucas's macguffin: If there is anything in the article that gives me pause it's that Spielberg seems to be consciously trying to emulate his style of 20 years ago instead of his style of today. That sounds kind of dangerous. I thought that Spielberg's weaker late 80s/early 90s output was largely due to him repeatedly trying to recapture the late 70s/early 80s instead of evolving his style a bit (which he finally did with Schindler's List). |
