i've always wondered how the food is at one, but they don't seem to have any plans to expand up here in WA. how are they compared to the big names? it always gets me how national tv channels play so many commercials for chains who don't have lots of national stores. them and sonic are all i can think of at the moment, but i am quite tv deprived. at least we have frugal's up here. great place. nuts. now i'm hungry

People who haven't been to In-n-Out always say that, Daehawk. Then they visit California, and someone forces them to go kicking and screaming all the way, and pretty soon there's yet another person on the internet saying how much they hate California and everything it stands for, except for In-n-Out burger. Unlike most chains, they are neither franchised nor publically traded. One family owns the whole chain. Which makes them a very wealthy family, but their expansion is glacial. Meaning they probably won't hit Washington or Boston any time soon. Maybe Washington in another couple of decades

I have been there a couple times. Not overly impressed. Then my wife and I went to one and they didn't take plastic. So we said and left never to return.

I always get a double meat these days, since cheeseburgers aren't my thing anymore. Back in my younger, partying days with my friends it was all about 4x4s for everyone!
Great burgers in any configuration. For alternatives, I like Tommy's when I'm in the mood for a chiliburger, and Fatburger when I'm in downtown LA.

Even a vegetarian grilledcheese at In-N-Out is off teh hook and their fries... Actually taste like potato (gasp) because the folks are peeling and slicing them taters right there for you to see. Best fast food chain. They even pay their employees $8.25/hr. to start! They give health insurance and a 401(k) too. In high school In-n-out was like the highest paying job any kid could hope to get.
Mmmmm.

Great. And to think I had gone to the University of Nevada, Reno and spent my time at the Circus Circus 24 hour cafe all the time. Then I move back to Washington (I missed it so!) and then they open In-n-Outs there?! I love those restaurants! Drove to California to grab a hamburger a couple of times

In 'n Out has the best burgers and fries, but I haven't ordered anything off the secret menu. I'll just get the double double combo and be content.

There's a relatively new chain that added a store near my house called Culvers (aka Butterburgers). Needless to say their burgers are some of the best I have ever tasted. And to add insult to injury they also serve frozen custard. All in a nice drive thru equiped building frighteningly close to my house. s

The fast food market is what I miss most about SoCal.
We got nothing like it in Michigan.

The only In n' Out I've ever seen here in MI is a party store chain. Sub 7-11 quality if such a thing is possible.
