The book is supposedly quite good as well. The book is excellent though, based on the preview, the movie is a little less subtle about things than the book.

That does look good, and I think I will go pick up the book this weekend and check it out.
Please don't ban me, but I'm a bit sick of seeing Scarlett Johansson everywhere. I enjoyed her in Lost in Translation but she just strikes me as a bad actress.

I'm certainly not sick of seeing her, but there is truth to the notion that she is in alot of stuff. She is everywhere.
But honestly, until I get sick of her (which hasn't happened yet), I'm good with it.
And the movie does look pretty great. I'll see it.

Yeah, agreed. Jackson was running it back then. I don't actually think she's been in that much. I feel like Tom Cruise is kind of the new It Man. But maybe it's just because of his nutso escapades of the screen too.

Uh... That said, both movies look really cool. I mean, you wouldn't have thought before this that you could make not one, but two movies about a magician's work, could you?

I think The Illusionist looks better but I am an Edward Norton fanboy so that may be part of the reason. I will see both.

When I first saw the link to The Illusionist I was afraid that we had two movies with basically the same story. However, after seeing both trailers, I'm pleasantly surprised that they're two very different stories and now find myself totally stoked for both.
Yay movies!

If so, I wonder if it'll culminate in a film adaptation of Jonathan Strange & Dr. Norrell. I'd like that.

As long as the trend excludes theatrical participation by either Chriss Angel and/or David Blaine, I'm all for it.
