I lived with them until I finished college. It was nice to be able to do the whole - stay at home, study, not worry about rent or working or the like. (I had a job, but it was for spending money / book money / lunch money for myself)

I moved away to Toronto, and I was 3 hours drive away. I'd still see them every 3 weeks or so, so things were good.

I moved a good deal further away in 2005. Got married. I haven't been home in 2 and a half years. I talk to my parents on the phone every weekend though. Last time I saw them was last summer. It hasn't always been easy, but I never really spent a lot of time thinking about it.

For some reason, this penny-arcade comic got me thinking about this...

If my parents ever got really sick, I'd be able to go home and see them, but for the most part I haven't been home in a long time.

I miss my parents.

I think I need a blog so I can be emo.

I had a job in Seattle and missed my family (parents included) so much, that I moved back down near Portland, OR.

Now, I can't find a job.

The End.

I can't be far enough away from mine. Going back usually results in way too much stress.

that's why I disowned mine. Plus I don't have to worry about taking care of any elderly family members if the need ever arises  icon_wink

Well, for the first year on my immigration status, I couldn't leave the country. Then, I didn't have the money to go on an extended trip. (Do I buy a house so I don't have to live in a crappy apartment and be able to start the family that my wife and I want / see my parents?).

I'm going home, for what feels like the first time in forever, in March.
