And a link to CNN's site that has a few interesting tidbits about his life: http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/TV/07/20/obit.doohan.ap/index.htmlAnd yeah - Scotty was always one of my favorites of the show too. This sums up his life nicely: "In a 1998 interview, Doohan was asked if he ever got tired of hearing the line "Beam me up, Scotty" -- a line that, reportedly, was never actually spoken on the TV show. "I'm not tired of it at all," he replied. "Good gracious, it's been said to me for just about 31 years. It's been said to me at 70 miles an hour across four lanes on the freeway. I hear it from just about everybody. It's been fun."" Now Bones and Scotty can argue amongst themselves (even though they rarely did) in the great beyond.

Man. Fuck that. Live long and prosper Jimmy Doohan. A World War 2 veteran of D-Day, a great character actor, the best engineer to ever grace the screen, a living legend of Star Trek Rarely do I participate in what I find are silly expressions of remorse for people I have never met, but like when De Kelly passed away, this really tugs at the old heartstrings

The Star Trek actors of yore are/were class acts. And then there's Shatner. Did you read the list of injuries he took in the Pacific during the war? Good night! God speed you, Mr. Scot.

Beam Scotty home. He lived long and prospered. Energize. Sad. He was one of my favorites also. I knew his days were short. They had a big sendoff for him last year i believe it was. He did'nt look well at all. Was in a wheelchair. He has a little 5 year old daughter too. He had her in 2000 when he was 80 years old I dont think losing Jimmy was as hard as De cause I knew he was nearing his end. Ill miss them both and wonder who will be next. We are losing history here sadly. Heres a pic of him at that sendoff. Thats his youngest there on left.

Sail on Jimmy. Dude I totally take it back. Of course it is. I profusely apologize-as soon as I saw your reply I thought to myself "youve read peter pan a jillion times, wtf were you thinking!!" I blame it on writing an essay while posting. Either way I take back the snarkiness since I just inserted foot squarely in mouth!!

And in a slight update from CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/TV/07/21/doohan.space.ap/index.html"The actor, who died Wednesday at age 85, had told relatives he wanted his ashes blasted into outer space, as was done for "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry. "He'll be there with his buddy, which is wonderful," said Doohan's agent and longtime friend, Steve Stevens. Houston-based Space Services Inc., which specializes in space memorials, plans to send a few grams of Doohan's ashes aboard a rocket later this year. The remains, which will be sealed in an aluminum capsule, will eventually burn up when they re-enter Earth's atmosphere."
