Anyone else watching it?
So far, I like the show, but if they wanted to ditch the part where one of the two hosts gets their ass kicked by a champion, that would be fine with me. It seems a little goofy how they learn a few moves with the premise that said moves will help in their fight.
But the history, travelling, and showing different schools is really interesting.

Yep, I'm totally in on that. It seems that the wrestler guy is the 'look, I'm an average Joe!' guy and the MMA fighter is the 'I'm an expert!'. Let me assure you, after watching his technique - he is no expert.
Still, it is a fun show, and seeing some of these masters in action is amazing. I think the Thai boxer was awful nice - I think he could have sent the 'expert' home in a bag if he was so inclined. (especially based on the footage of his fights that they showed in the beginning)

Episode last night was on French Savate. It was awesome, showing roots on naval ships where on-deck fighting required holding on to ropes and kicking a lot. This evolved into some amazing balancing-act snap kicks that all came from rotating hips. Quite entertaining...and the big guy is apparently a world class heavyweight wrestler. Not "professional" wrestling, either. He demonstrated some control and knowledge of centers of gravity that betrayed at least a modicum of training. pthbt.

Somebody told me one of them was going to train for the UFC, but decided to do the show instead. I don't know which one, though, and don't care enough to google it.
I'd like to see one on capoeira, and another on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

I was impressed when he landed that thrust kick during the fight at the end. That fighter was UNTHRILLED at the end. heheheh

I guess that's another reason I don't like the "fight at the end" concept. The expert doing the fight doesn't really want to get hurt or injured in what is essentially a meaningless fight, and isn't going to kick the living shit out of either of the hosts.

I agree with you on that point, however in the Escrima (spelling?) episode, I thought the Escrima champ was fighting pretty hard against the host.

The Savate episode end fight was no joke either. It's getting better...

The football guy seems to lack some respect though. Just a perception. I like the show though.

I agree with this statement, but it may be due to his lack of a more Eastern martial arts background, which is very big on respect in high context societies. I'm not making excuses for the guy, just hoping he picks up on it over time. And yes, Ron. My eyebrows raised at that thrust kick in the last Savate fight.
