So as I was starting to finally set up the home theater speakers in my new home, The Wife made it clear in no uncertain terms that she is vehemently opposed to seeing wires running across the room to the rear speakers.  I mentioned how I was going to route them cleanly along the bottom of the walls and it turns out this is also Unacceptable (and there are some places that would be admittedly tricky to route wires cleanly.)

I'm not ready to start ripping open my walls to do anything fancy like that, so I'm thinking wireless rear speakers are the way to go.  I started looking on Amazon but I'm clueless about what I want or need.

I have this Onkyo theater-in-a-box.  Are there speakers I can just buy, hook up to this, and be good to go?

The Wife is so very opposed to seeing wires that she's even greenlit me upgrading to a new receiver or theater-in-a-box set if necessary.  If I go that route, I'd really like to keep the total price under $600 if possible.

Would the cheaper solution be to just get rid of the wife? (I do not mean in a mafia sort of way).

She's already wireless, though, so that would be a step in the wrong direction.

I use this (an older model of this technically):

Works great for me.

Yeah my wife hated my surround sound wires, so I ended up compromising and buying a nice higher end sound bar

Do you ever have issues with it adding its own background noise, sound being delayed compared to your other speakers, or with the signal getting interrupted?

I'm also using the old / original model of this... without issues. Well, other than having to turn it off when the receiver is off - thought at first I'd be able to leave it on but I get noise from the rear speakers in that case. Heard that was something they fixed later on.

I also use the older version of the rocketfish system, and it works fine. However I am not sure if that will be viable with a HTIB. A lot of those have more "custom" speaker connections.

They only thing I have noticed is an occasional pop coming from the rear speakers, but it is very rare.

Regarding the connections, mine only accepts standard speaker wire with no connectors.

Thanks for the input, all.  For now I'm going to give The Teggy Solution a try and see how it goes.
