How do you say 2011?

LOL,okay ..pet peeve time for me,here is the thing,back in the 20th we all said for example for the year 1985 - Nineteen Eighty Five,i think it was only Paul McCartney and Wings who said Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five

Then when the new Millennium came round we said the year Two Thousand(2000),and for the next 9 years most said Two Thousand and One(2001),or Two Thousand and Four(2004) and Two Thousand and Nine(2009),depending on the year they were talking about of course

now that we are into the next decade,what did you say for 2010?,and what are you saying for 2011?..is it Two Thousand and Eleven or are you saying Twenty Eleven?

when i think of the film 2001:A Space Odyssey,i say Two Thousand and One,when i think of the films 2010 or 2012,i say Twenty Ten or Twenty Twelve,so of course this goes the same for the year

I am sure in a hundred years this wont really be a problem,as we would no doubt say Twenty One Eleven(2111),rather than Two Thousand One Hundred and Eleven,or Twenty One Hundred and Eleven...maybe,LOL

If we go by high schooler's chants, last year's seniors were shouting "Twenty Ten!" at pep rallys.  And the class of 2012 all shout "Twenty Twelve!" 

But those who'll be graduating this spring, shout "One One!"

while twenty-eleven fits the pattern of the pre-2000's, it sounds funny, and it would have been odd hearing anyone say nineteen hundred - ninety-nine.  it's kind of like how DSHS sounds better as Department of health and social services when you say it out.

My wife says "twenty eleven", which just sounds weird to me. I think I'll probably switch from "two thousand" to "twenty" in 2012. That's the first year that "twenty" sounds more natural to me (probably because of the double T).

I expect that the switch to saying twenty-whatever will come slowly over the next few years as people decide it "sounds better" for one reason or another. I guarantee you, however, that in 9 years we'll all be saying twentytwenty.
