When you go from 20 million viewers to 7.1M in the most recent episode, over about a  5-year period, chances are the show has run out of gas and Fox would want to move on. NBC (their studio produces the show) says it's not interested in moving the show to NBC if Fox canceled it.

I actually preferred the show the first maybe 3 seasons, when it seemed more focused on the procedural aspect and less fixated on House himself (I think I have seasons 1-3 on DVD). Though the more it fixated on House, the better the ratings seem to be, until its 2007 peak. But I probably haven't watched the show much at all in several years now.

I thought it jumped the shark with the Cuddy relationship, but I feel like it's back on track now.

The actress left because of protracted salary negotations. Not sure how they'll wrap the series now that she's gone, but I hope they don't hitch him with some other woman that will suddenly materialize on the series finale.

Wilson is only expected to live 5 months, and House has to go back to jail for 6;  I bet Wilson hangs on just long enough though.  Chase has left and Taub is already getting his lifeboat ready.

My god that whole cancer storyline for wilson is just so ridiculously stupid it's painful.  We're supposed to buy into the premise that all of the sudden Wilson is dying?  It's manipulative and moronic.  Oh, and it's "ironic" because he's a cancer doctor.    I expected better than junior high drama class level writing from the show's makers.  

p.s. is it just me or does wilde look less than stellar these days?  her brief appearance on house last week was surprising because I almost didn't recognize her.  she dyed her hair, but beyond that she looks different somehow...less exotic.  Don't get me wrong, I'd still cross over a mile of broken glass on my hands and knees just to have her say hi to me in an elevator, but I'd probably consider knee pads now.

I have a feeling that storyline being rushed is due to the midseason decision to end the series.  as for Wilde, yeah, she looked kind of rough but I chalked that up to her not doing so well.

Nope, he's alive. Wilson isn't on drugs.

I had to fast forward through all the subconscious monologues, those never sit well with me since people don't monologue like that. That kind of writing really for finales of shows that really couldn't weave the message into the entire show, or ones that are clearly rushed.

Anyone know if House found religion, or did they stay true with him and he stayed with atheism and found a different reason to be a better person?

I think I felt more emotion at the end of the retrospective than at the end of the finale.
