Lacking the servo information, they do not seem to have a commercial viability. On the contrary Optware has proposed Collinear Holographic recording on a hologram disc the structure of which follows conventional optical disc, i.e. preformatted disc with a reflective layer (disc with servo information).

WHHHAAAA???? Holy smokes....we went from 9GB to a Terabyte?!  I'll be interested in seeing a working prototype before I get too excited.  It does sound cool though.

If this is the same technology I'm thinking of it is supposed to have pretty fast accesses, too.

There are other medias I'd rather see take off, though.
