It's hard to be a Jew on Christmas. My friends wont let me join in any games. And I cant sing Christmas songs Or decorate a Christmas tree Or leave water out for Rudolph `Cause there's something wrong with me. My people don't believe in Jesus Christ's divinity.
I'm a Jew, A lonely Jew On Christmas. Hanukkah is nice but why is it That Santa passes over my house every year?
And instead of eating ham I have to eat kosher latkes Instead of Silent Night I'm singing Hoo Hact Toh Gaveesh And what the fuck is up with lighting all these Fucking candles please?
I'm a Jew, A lonely Jew I can't be merry `Cause I'm Hebrew On Christmas. Actually, half of the family is Lutheran, so we do a bit of both. What sucks is my birthday overlaps with Chanukah, so I end up getting the one present at the end of the year. I got a new wok and Fallout New Vegas. Also, a nice metal sign for my espresso bar that says "Coffee: Have another cup, you can sleep when you're dead."

I guess it depends on your perspective. For me, my family has no money, I am a single guy living alone and due to work I can not fly see my family. So, I will receive no gifts this year and Christmas will be spent by myself playing games or something. However, I bought my dad an All-Clad pot/pan set. He loves to cook and is really good but does not have the best equipment. I bought my mom and sister Kindles and my grandma a $100 Amazon gift card.

I'm in the same boat. If I'm lucky, I might get to talk with a friend of mine who'll be touring in Russia, and I'll likely call my mom, but otherwise, it's just going to be me and the cats hanging out and trying to ignore the whole thing. I did get one present from an old friend, which was unexpected: a pair of socks. Granted, they're nice socks with beer steins on them, but still socks. I think I'll send her a hat or something.

As I stated before, I'm not expecting to haul in much, just a couple of blu ray movies, however, I did win an Apple TV in an office drawing yesterday.

I asked my wife for 3 things this year: A heavy terrycloth winter bathrobe...a large flameproof casserole...and a sponge mop. The robe from Lands End is really nice, but must have been designed for simians. The sleeves are freakishly long (which all the customer reviews mentioned, yet it still got high satisfaction ratings). It's going back. Men's robes are hard to buy online; most men apparently prefer short, lightweight, summer robes. In plaid. I might actually have to go to a store next week to find what I want. The 6.5 qt enameled cast-iron casserole (aka Dutch oven) is a winner. She added a cookbook with a lot of vegetarian, fish, and seafood recipes, so I'll definitely be breaking that bad boy in next week. This afternoon I expect to get the usual flannel shirts (and hopefully pajamas too) from my inlaws. I also got a really nice set of used Klipsch computer speakers that were taking up space in an OO member's attic. He sent them to me after I complained that my 20-year-old Cambridge Soundworks speakers are dying. What a guy! I think he posts here, too, so I'm withholding his name lest everyone else demand something from him, too. Those speakers tipped it from an average to a good Christmas for me, loot-wise. The kitchen floor shall remain un-mopped, though.

Men's robes are hard to buy online; most men apparently prefer short, lightweight, summer robes. In plaid. I might actually have to go to a store next week to find what I want. Check out Target. I just picked up a nice thick fleece-ish robe from there for $30. They came in normal size and huge. I went with normal, and the sleeves come down pretty much exactly to my hands. I was even able to cook breakfast and wash some dishes without them dragging into anything this morning. My Christmas loot consists entirely of a pair of socks with beer steins on them from an old friend. I don't really exchange presents with family or friends, and my ex certainly isn't giving me anything. So I guess I did my own Christmas shopping this year for stuff for the new apartment, in which case: - 46" Samsung LCD - Dennon receiver - 14 piece pot/pan set - mixing bowl set - robe - tea kettle So I guess a decent Christmas loot-wise. Too bad I have to pay for all the stuff.

Holiday Loot concluded. I got: -An Amazon Kindle -Official Kindle case -A $20 Kindle gift card -A leather coat -Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (wii) -Arcania: Gothic 4 (PC) -A massive box of Fanny May Pixies (a candy made out of chocolate, pecans, and caramel) While I was opening my other presents, my dog, Sasha, somehow got into the box of pixies when we weren't paying attention. She ate half the stash. I anticipate a sick dog in a few hours.

So I ended up with cash (more from Dad then expected, less from Mom then expected), a kaleidescope(sp?) - which means a return to weird and useless stuff from Mom, and my brother sent me a laser sight for my pistol - except that it's used (which is fine, he's a gun nut and sends me used stuff of his he doesn't need a lot) and there are no actual instructions for mounting it. Not a bad haul as the cash enables more Steam sale fun!

My loot, via my sister-in-law and brother. Although it was almost entirely from a wish list of mine, they did add in some clothing (not quite big enough for my PC gamer gut, so they're exchanging for a slightly larger size) and a Stevie Ray Vaughn concert CD: PC games (I asked for some games that interested me but that I was hesitant to buy, and one older game I missed out on): -Tron: Evolution -Saboteur (so long, Pandemic -World in Conflict: Complete (sister-in-law ordered it, and told me to expect it in the mail in a day or so ) DVDs: -HBO's The Pacific series -Sherlock (the new BBC one that aired on PBS) -Restrepo (documentary following an Army platoon in Afghanistan for a year) CDs: -Eric Clapton's 2010 Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago -Albert King w/ Stevie Ray Vaughn: In Session (CD/DVD combo) Books: -Atlantis and Other Places: Stories of Alternate History (by Harry Turtledove, an anthology) -O'Reilly's Best iPhone Apps (2nd edition) -Que's My iPod Touch (one of the few that covers 4th gen version; I was suprised to find a few tips in it on things I hadn't figured out or heard about) I'd call it "good," if short on surprises.

I'm finicky because I really want to replace my old disintegrating robe with one exactly like it, and heavyweight terrycloth seems to be out of fashion at the moment -- they're predominantly lightweight cotton or fleece. I finally did find one on Amazon that looks just right. It's expensive, but I can justify it as office attire. The inlaws delivered the expected flannel shirts, but not the hoped-for pajamas, so I'll probably have to go to a store next week after all. More office attire, y'know.

How big is the dog, and what kind of chocolate is in it (the darker, the worse it is)? Depending on how big she is and how much theobromine she consumed, you might even have a dead dog on your hands soon. Ahem, my loot... mostly just clothes I really need (just moved back to New York from San Francisco, and have a definite deficit of winter clothes). Also got an awesome leather messenger bag from my beautiful girlfriend - I'm stoked about that one, I've been wanting one for a long time

$100 gift card to Ruth's Chris! Never heard of it. But looking it up online it looks very cool. Around here all the old steak houses have turned buffet style. Which I absolutely HATE. I no longer visit them. To get a good steak now Im forced to go to Cracker Barrel or Logan's Road House.

My wife had a brand new bike waiting under the tree for me. I went for a quick ride Xmas morning, but was cold and windy as all hell yesterday so it probably won't hit the street again for a couple more days.
She grabbed me an Xbox HD too, a 250 gig one.

I got a Wooden Poster of one of my favorite beers (Great Lakes Brewing Company - Conways Irish Ale) for behind my bar and a Cleveland Browns 4 pint and pitcher glass set that the text changes colors when cold (all from my wife) We just bought her a new car and we are buying another HD TV when it gets closer to the SuperBowl (for the best deals) so we said we were going to keep xmas presents cheap this year. I got her an Ovchekin Jersey (yuck it made me sick). Her rents gave us a washer and dryer since we just got married in july and didnt have a set. My parents gave us cash. and we got gift cards for Lowes and Home Depot so I can get wood and formica to build my bar all in all i am pretty happy with the xmas loot. granted it was a small gift year but the stuff i got was stuff i liked and will use. oh ya and i of course got socks in my stocking. who doesnt get socks on xmas?!

Seriously. Cracker Barrel is the opposite of good steak. It's like saying you go to Golden Corral for good seafood.

So far I have: Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943 for PC Batman: Arkham Asylum for 360 A new 1TB internal drive Inception There are two more hauls to come yet. As usual the kids were drowned in presents; my girlfriend and I got them a dozen or so between them, then the grandparents stepped in, doing what grandparents do best...

did that come with care instructions? From what I understand. All I have to do is feed her a fairly strict diet of decent prose on a somewhat regular basis. And as long as I keep her happy, she gets a cut of my pay. It's sort of like being married.

Second haul is in! I got:
Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead Moon A very nice Sandberg USB headset A Sharkoon HD laser mouse
I've never even had a mouse with more than three buttons before so that was particularly welcome. And for some reason, since upgrading to Windows 7, microphones have just refused to work with my PC - in any of the three different jacks - but now I can finally use voice comms again!
