I'd hit, and she'd be so fast I wouldn't be embarrassed by only lasting 3 minutes

This is a good start but theres no guarantee that they can save the series from the incredible shark jumping train wreck that was season 2. It was so bad that the writers strike may have saved Heroes from cancellation. I hope Kring uses the long hiatus to fix all the damage done and get the show back on track.

I don't know about all of that. S2 wasn't up to the quality of the first season but there certainly weren't any major changes or anything that make it hard to come back from. That's the nice thing about the relatively contained season-arc format they are using- makes it pretty easy to start fresh each time out.

i wouldn't call the second season a 'train wreck.' they definitely started off too slowly, but it picked up pace very well in the second half of the season. the season ended rather abruptly, but that was due to the writer's strike and having to cut the season short. Kring did an interview last fall in which he admitted that they started the season too slowly, mistakenly thinking that's what fans would like after a well-received similar start to the first season. after all the fan backlash over the first few episodes, he said they tried to turn things around but ran out of time to completely fix their mistake before the strike started. given that the show ended in a less than ideal manner last season, i have faith they'll get things right when Heroes returns.

Yeah, a big thing to remember is that they were already in the process of filming the ninth episode by the time that the third ep was airing and fans started becoming restless. The nature of TV production schedules makes it very difficult for producers to react quickly to fan reaction. Kring has IMO been more forthcoming than you would expect about acknowledging the deficiencies of Season 2. That said, I think a big problem with S2 was that the cast was already large enough that we didn't need many new characters brought in so announcements like this aren't really what I want to hear. We don't need more Heroes, we just need engaging story lines for the ones that we already have and, if there isn't anything interesting to do with a character, just let them disappear for a time.

I'm usually pretty easy on shows, but I thought Season 2 was pretty awful, and only got worse as it went. The biggest problem was focusing on the uninteresting new characters while the veterans got pushed to the side. I also didn't like any of the new stories. Some had potential, like Hiro's time in Japan or Parkman's father, but in the end, they just didn't work. The "generations" concept seemed like a good idea, but they failed in the execution. However, Lost also suffered from many of these problems in its second season, so I'm hoping Heroes will make a similar comeback in season 3. The producers have said they'll be focusing on the core characters this season, although the fact that they've already announced two new ones (Speedster and a senator) isn't exactly promising. Also, if they "kill" off another character only to bring them back again, I think I'll just give up on the show.

I always wondered where were the speedy heroes. Can you imagine Peter meeting her and not knowing it then having to pee, getting up, and slamming into a wall at 100mph?
