11th September 1917-27th September 2012

Herbert Lom is one of those actors who i am not sure how well known he is in America,he is fondly remembered here as Inspector Dreyfuss from the Peter Sellers Pink Panther films and they are what i grew up watching and loved the two of them on screen,in fact the series really took off when Dreyfus first appeared in A shot in the Dark, the sequel to the original Pink Panther

here is the clip from the above picture
Herbert Lom was one of those actors who has been in a lot of things but it may of slipped your mind that he was in it-I don't mean he was forgettable in his roles just that he had a lot of varied roles

Apart from the Pink Panther series he was also in The Dead Zone(with Christopher Walken),The Ladykillers(with Sellers again and Alec Guinness,Shown Below),Spartacus(Kirk Douglas) and El Cid(Charlton Heston)

95 years old though,I really did not think he was that old,he died peacefully in his sleep early this(Thursday)Morning

The original Pink Panthers movies were awesome and I always enjoyed Herbert Lom's portayal of Dreyfuss.  His gradual decent into madness due to Clouseau was hilarious to watch. Thanks for making me laugh, Herbert.  RIP

I'm surprised to hear he was still alive, actually.

It always surprises me to see him turn up in serious roles, though it shouldn't.  He was a fine actor.  And he really did something special with Dreyfuss.  So much so that he had larger and larger roles in the Pink Panther films.
