Ok I'm a little early but only by a couple of hours going by Japanese time!  Unlike most of the comments in the July 4th thread, I still care about Canada Day, even more so after living in a foreign country for going on 3.5 years.  So have a Molsons for me! (or whatever beer is still actually Canadian).

I leave for the US on July 1st, and head back to Canada on July 4th.  Clearly I'm doing a good job of avoiding national holidays this year.

I actually hate Molson beer, not sure quite why, though it may have something to do with that after-wedding party my cousin had in Quebec.  As I (vaguely) remember, there was a bathtub full of ice and that beer, and no one was driving since we all had rooms at the same hotel. Last thing I remember was my sisters and I having a chicken-wing bone throwing contest, in our room.  I don't know who won.   drool

Though I don't love your beer, I DO love Canada!  Hats off to all you "Canucks" - not just, you know, Canuck...

And I still love the 4th of July; after all, we may become a democracy again in November.   nod

Happy Beaver Day! biggrin

Speaking of the long weekend, Highway 17 (which is near me) was held up for at least 6 hours (and closed for 11 hours) yesterday due to a fatal accident involving a vehicle that collided with an off-duty police officer (OPP), around Nairn Center,  who was driving a bike. I was coming home from a BBQ and we had waited at least a half hour, wondering what was going on until we realized there was a police officer stopping cars and asking them if they witnessed the accident.

I'll have a Bud since that's apparently the most popular beer in Canada (or as I call it now, the northern mid-west.)

Meh. Not a Bud fan, I'd rather drink Rickard's Honey-Brown, Alexander Keith's India Pale, or Fort Garry Dark.

Hey, I never said I liked Bud, just that if you are going to celebrate Canada day, you might as well drink what they drink.

I wonder if I can find some poutine to go with it . . .

Because I'm so patriotic I'm working today, by choice. Since I deal with mostly U.S. offices I'm trading this day for the 4th off so I can make it a long weekend.

They just served poutine in the cafeteria here at work.  I made the mistake of eating it.  What the hell was I thinking?

The lack of alcohol I have will sting later tonight. I'll care enough about Canada Day to drink a little bit.
