Wow! Very cool! Well, I win this round. You are player number 785 to pick genie from i dream of jeanie, and what a clever choice it was! You almost had me for a while, but you let your guard down. Don't worry, it happens to all of us sooner or later. Please play again, and next time I'll be ready for you, genie from i dream of jeanie.

I win again! You are player number 3106 to have chosen Stalin from Russia. I knew you were Stalin from Russia from the start, but I strung you along for a while to make it seem more sporting. I hope that one day you will overcome the powerful sense of humiliation that you now feel. Until then, good luck. I win again! You are player number 171 to have chosen Fred Sanford from Sanford and Son. I knew you were Fred Sanford from Sanford and Son from the start, but I strung you along for a while to make it seem more sporting. I hope that one day you will overcome the powerful sense of humiliation that you now feel. Until then, good luck.

Lol - a friend and I just did this - using Pol Pot (if that's how you spell it). It guessed Dub-ya. I suspect a set-up... hidden agenda and all that, wot? Especially since it asked if the character was from the U.S. and we answered "No."

If you stump the thing, it asks you for questions that will help it get your answer right next time! It's a smart bugger!

Another thing is to just answer randomly until it's totally confused and then let it guess someone and say it's right.

Im surprised. I was only the third person to pick Fidel Castro. I was also like the bazillionth person to pick Kramer.
I tried doing Margaret Thatcher, but I dont really know enough about her to answer correctly.

That's strange: Well, I win this round. You are player number 1001 to pick Fidel Castro from Cuba, and what a clever choice it was! You almost had me for a while, but you let your guard down. Don't worry, it happens to all of us sooner or later. Please play again, and next time I'll be ready for you, Fidel Castro from Cuba. I wonder if it depends on the questions asked. I was the first person to pick Byron from Andy Richter Controls the Universe. Take that, guessing game!

How the HELL did it get Rimmer? I figured that would be obscure enough... yikes.

If it doesnt guess correctly, it asks you to fill in info, and post a question that would differentiate your answer from it's guess.
Im wondering how much it trusts the honesty of the questioner.

It didn't get Mork from Mork and Mindy. Wow - what kind of whatever-it-is gets Jeannie, but not Mork? Has anyone seen the little guessing-game gizmo that asks you a ton of questions (you hold anything in mind, like meteorite, or armadillo, and answer it's questions) - and almost never gets stumped? Can't remember the name of it right now, but it's equally (or more) impressive in it's correct "guesses" Simply amazing (but so is the inside of a television, to me, yet I watch it as if it was no big deal!)

It wasn't easy, but I won this time. You are player number 8 to have chosen Kermit from Muppet Show. Kermit from Muppet Show was a tough one, but I've had a lot of practice. Thanks for giving me something to do. Please visit again soon.

Im getting the impression it is building it's database. Once you stump it, it will learn from your answer(s).

I didn't run through this one, but I've seen similar ones before. The basic idea is as old as computers with enough storage space to handle it. The Applie ][ came with a game called Animal that was exactly this. Just replace "Sitcom Star or Dictator" with "What Animal" and there's no difference at all in how it works.
All it is is a great big binary tree. There's no fuzziness to it at all, if you are thinking "Saddam Hussein" and you answer "no" to something like, "Does he have a mustache?" Where 99% of the other respondents responded yes, then you will eventually reach a point where either t guesses you were thinking of Saddam anyway (because that 1% of crazy people fucked it up but but told it they meant Saddam) or it doesn't guess, and asks you for a new question to distinguish Kramer from Saddam. Then it adds that to the database, and the next idiot that says Saddam doesn't have a mustache loses when it asks "Did he once start shaving with butter?"
