I like looking at the gallery at AVS and checking out everyone's home theater and gaming setups, and I'm always interested to read what people use to watch movies and game. Seeing Pete's photos got me thinking it might be cool to share photos of our setups here.

We did some upgrades at the end of last year. We originally had a 240 pound behemoth of a 36" Sony Wega non-HD for five years sitting on a big silver and black cabinet, we were very happy to get rid of all that in the end. We got a new TV, added a new DVD player and the 360, and switched to a smaller stand from Ikea. Our TV unfortunately has to sit in a corner so I was limited on space and the kind of stand we could have, but in the end it's a world of difference between what we had before and now. I think I've gamed and watched more TV/movies in the past couple of months than I have in a long time.

42" Panasonic Plasma (originally we got a 37" but after about 6 weeks we decided to trade up)
Panasonic upconverting DVD player (HDMI)
Digital DVR/HD cable box (HDMI)
Yamaha receiver
Xbox 360 and HD player
Paradigm Cinema speakers

While The Hulk really isn't that great of a movie it really does look amazing on HD. thumbsup

Anyone else up for sharing?

My camera is on the fritz, but here's what we've got:

Sony KDS 60A2000

Pioneer VSX-82TXS

Toshiba HD-A2

Paradigm Monitor 11 fronts, Paradigm C-C 370 center, Paradigm ADP-370 surrounds and the Paradigm PW-2200 Sub

What's funny is that I got all of this over the past couple of days. I've been looking into HD stuff for quite some time, and with the aid of some really great posts on this forum and I had narrowed down what I wanted.

I wasn't going to get into it for another few months...in fact was just going to get the items in pieces (TV, later on the hd dvd, etc...) but with my wife's deal I snapped. She's the movie maven in our home, I rarely watch tv, so hopefully she will be thrilled when she gets home from the hospital. I know she'll be suprised smile

Oh yeah, this evening I finally finished hooking up and adjusting the set, etc and popped in Aeon Flux HD DVD I bought. Wow, the movie is kinda of, "meh," but DAMN IT LOOKS AWESOME!

I might even get an xbox...OMG it would be the first console I ever owned. If I get one Tongue

I would be just way too ashamed to post a picture of my setup.  Some day I will get a modest sized HDTV, but for now I have a crappy 21" TV sitting alongside an old 20" monitor so I can play my 360 while I watch TV.  Yeah, I'm a total ADD case.

I've got a new receiver coming tomorrow, so I'll post pics once I have everything rewired

TV: Sony KDFE-50A10
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR504
Speakers: Energy Take 5 + Energy subwoofer
Tuner: Motorola HD DVR
Consoles: Xbox 360 + HD-DVD; Xbox; Dreamcast

I had a Sony 300 DVD changer, but I'm getting rid of it because it was too much of a hassle keeping it updated.  Looking for a decent upconverting single disc player at the moment.

I have two separate setups:

Fiirst, our living room movie/TV watching setup.   Bowled over with baby pictures and please note the sytlish QVC box that serves as an attempt to keep my daughter from getting behind my speakers and pulling the wires out.  You can even see some of the handprints on the screen that are inevitable with a 14 month old running around the room.  She *especially* like's the look on Daddy's face when she beats on the screen.

Also, my subwoofer which stands nearly 3' tall:

This setup consists of:

55" Diamond Mits HDTV
Denon DVD-1920 Upconverting DVD Player
Denon Receiver
B&W 600 Series Speakers (can't recall the specific designation offhand)
SVS Subwoofer
DirecTV HD Tivo

Then I have my Gaming Setup in my "Playroom"
Overall view of the room though there are some bookshelves that you can't see from this angle.

A good portion of my console game library.

Closer look at my console gaming setup.

This setup includes:

32" Panasonic HDTV
Oppo Upconverting DVD Player
Xbox (w/ XBMC installed)
360
PS2
Wii
Denon 3803 Receiver
B&W 300 Series Speakers (though most of my gaming is done with the Sennheiser headphones since my daughter's room is next door)
HD DirecTV Receiver
Pelican System Selector Pro
And the N64 currently hooked up as my "aux" console though the Dreamcast and even SNES get occasional rotations in as well.

Here's what I've got :

Pioneer 43" plasma TV
Yamaha HTR-5960 receiver
Onix x-ls fronts (waiting on the backordered x-cs center...grrr)
Hsu VTF-2 MK 3 Sub
Oppo OPD971H DVD Player

I'll take some pics once I get my camera back in a couple days.

Mine is a work in progress.  I have not run any surround and am using a RTA bookshelf for components for now.  I'll build in some shelves and run surround at some point.  I'll do a better wire-hiding job then too.  Still, it's a good start.

Here's the room around Xmas with my 30" CRT HD set.

Here's the room after finally getting the new set hung up with components hooked up.  (360 and HD DVR from TWC)

It's a 42" Vizio LCD set.  You can see where I need to do a better job with wire hiding but I'll tackles all that when I wire for surround.  The wife is happy right now so I'm not going to worry about it yet.  And hey, when it's time to run surround I'm doing the household a favor by making things look better... or something. slywink

Yeah, my wife has an obsession with cramming photos of our daughter everywhere. It helps that she's very photogenic though.  We had a much smaller and elegant entertainment center (essentially just an A/V rack that stood to one side of the TV) but it was way too open and accessible for our daughter once she was mobile so it needed to be replaced witih something a bit more secure.  I'm starting to think though that my wife's real motive was in wanting more photo display space...

Austin, I love the ladder setup; that new euro-seating is freakin' awesome.  icon_wink

My divorce had knee-capped my gaming/HT rig.

Right now I have a 30" sony HDTV, a Wii, a 360, a HD PVR with Shaw and a Pioneer VSX1015X (IIRC) and Harman-Kardon HKTS-14 with an extra pair for the rear (7.1 setup).

All of it is running off a Monster Power 5100 MkII 4 stage power cleaner.

I'll post a pic of it; right now the set is a "make do" ... it was the small set before the breakup.

It's actually driving me batshit insane that I'm out of shelving.  I need to decide either to redo my entire shelving system (buy more shelves that match), make an effort to locate MORE of the current two shelves I have (so they can match), or just take some of the games/DVDs I don't really use anymore and box them up.

You people are very organized.

We keep our DVDs out of the way in our office upstairs, and I only have six 360 games which I just keep in that bottom wicker basket thing. I'm pretty nitpicky about seeing wires/cables too so everything (including the cable and wireless modems) behind the TV and components is zip tied and hidden well enough so we can't see them.

Here's my current collection, I've stayed at around 125 DVDs over the past few years with giving away ones I don't watch anymore and replacing them with new ones. I probably also only buy about a dozen a year now.

My other technological pride and joy is a Logitech Harmony 360 Universal Remote, I still get blown away when I can turn everything on and set the way I like it with one push of a button.

Yeah, I've got an 880 in my playroom and we use a 550 downstairs in the living room.  Fantastic remotes and I even turned my parents and my in-laws onto them (though I had to do the setup for them).

A little information about my DVD organization system and some pictures of my setup found here.  More information about the components found in a thread over in Console Games:

This thread is hilarious!   Tongue

Also- the above picture is HAWT!  My eyeballs had dirty sex with that picture of your freaking awesome setup Pete!  So when can I come over?  I can bring ummmm Beer?   icon_lol  I promise that I will leave sometime!

I have managed to develop a setup I can be content with and that more or less lives up to the PeteRock standard.   icon_wink  For those that are curious:  top left = Sony 400-disc DVD changer, top middle = Escient Fireball, top right = space for 2nd Sony 400-disc DVD changer I just received for Christmas, bottom left = PS2 and HD cable box, bottom middle = receiver and Zektor HDS4.1 powered component switch box, and bottom right = Xbox 360 with Eagles faceplate and original Xbox.

My wife has completely supported my home theater addiction (she enjoys it as much as, if not more than I do), and we have finally acquired a setup we can be proud of and get a shit-ton of fun out of.  It's definitely nice to come home to.

Well, that's fun to come home to as well as this (just to piss off Starshifter):

And here's a picture (of less than ideal quality) of the overall setup:

Nice stuff so far, but nobody's gonna top mine:

13" Sanyo Colour TV (Mono Sound)  (screw stereo surround sound and high definition TV!!!!!)
Sanyo VCR player (outputs to Mono)
Labtech 2.1 30W RMS speaker <-- which is used for audio for my
Gamecube
and DVD player (this was a recent addition, before that I watched DVDs on my TV by piping it from my computer with a RCA cable-
actually my monitor is bigger than my TV)

I dare someone to beat my setup!!!

i took the big-screen HD leap a couple months ago, so here's my current setup...

Sony KDS50-A2000 50" HDTV
Sony DVP-NC85H Upconverting 5-disc DVD player
Kenwood receiver & 5.1 speakers
Logitech Harmony 550 remote
Xbox 360
HD-PVR/digital cable (not in the picture)
HTPC
VCR

and a couple more pics...

you know, it's surprisingly hard to take good pictures of a system that show off both the gear and picture quality at the same...lighting is kind of tricky icon_cool

Yea....very tricky.  I can't do it, so excuse the very large white spot on the screen.

Left, right, and center, obviously.  (and yes...the holiday card is rated E for everyone.  Game companies send out the coolest cards)

As far as gear goes we have:

Picture 1:
My spinner of DVDs (overflowing obviously) on the left.  360 with the three 360 titles I'm currently reviewing next to it.  PS3 under that.  Original Xbox under that (thanks backwards compatability!) with misc. cards and adapters for all platforms in tow, and the PS2 slim under that with FFXII.  To the right of that sits the Wii.

Picture 2:
More DVDs.  (and more overflow - I need a taller DVD rack)

Picture 3:
More recent titles in my library in shelf 1 and 2, as well as my Blu-Ray and HD-DVD movies.  Under that is the Wii / accessories shelf.  Below that?  Misc remotes and various whatnot.  And yes, that is a large stack of burned music. (Bite me RIAA)
Hiding under the side of the TV is my wireless access point.  All the way on top is my wife's karaoke machine.

Center picture:
The 62" TV in all of its glory!  Its a Mitsu Diamond and I love it.  Underneath from the left we have the terrible Cox DVR.  I'd rather have sex with Paris Hilton than use that interface...it's that bad. (they are upgrading to a TiVo interface sometime this year)  Under that I have a Pelican prototype switchbox.  It has 9 outputs, 8 are optical/composite/component/ethernet/s-video, and the 1 in front is s-video/composite.  Sadly it has no remote. frown    Moving right we have my surround sound.  It is a Sony 6.1 surround and does the job nicely.  Since I'm 3/4 deaf, its kinda moot. slywink    Under that I have my upsampling DVD player.   Subwoofer is hanging out on the floor on the left.    Nagel pictures are up above. smile  Ignore the incomplete paint job and removed plug cover - we are reworking the paint and moulding in this room.

The coloring is off with the flash and whatnot.  If I grabbed a pic from the other wall you would see what it looks like in its final form - in essence, the bottom is a sea foam green with a deep cherrywood moulding through the center, then the top is an off white.  It looks nicer than a solid color, but its still not 100% complete - gotta finish that other moulding.

i swear i get more questions about that little center channel shelf than any other part of my system icon_wink
in any case, it's an Omnimount A/V Component Shelf that i picked up from BestBuy for about $30...made to fit all kinds of TVs and works great.  i've also seen the same shelf at CircuitCity, as well as a similar one that's black instead of silver.  i think a shelf like that is definitely the way to go though...much nicer to have the center channel on top than taking up space on your TV stand below icon_cool

Pretty basic setup, the satallite speakers are hidden among the room. This is an old picture add a 360 and a new upscaling DVD player to it.
