He had a ring that could do stuff. And the color yellow was his kryptonite. He was constantly bested by school bus drivers and Big Bird.

I'm a huge green lantern fan, so I'm looking forward to this. I just hope they don't play it for ironic laughs or something.
I was surprised to read that Kenneth Brannagh is directing Thor. That may actually work. It seems like producers are starting to realize that getting talented actors and directors to work on comic book films helps to avoid another Uwe Boll.

That was the Green Hornet, soon to be played by Seth Rogan. (GH, not Kato)

That was the Green Hornet, soon to be played by Seth Rogan. (GH, not Kato) if it ever gets off the ground. it was supposed to be directed by the Kung Fu Hustle guy but he apprently dropped out of the directors seat after getting told no when he had the idea of making it a spoof with Jack Black as the Green Hornet. if you go back even further there was a 90's version in the works with George 'check out my bat nipples' Clooney as the Green Hornet.

I didn't see any mention of which GL it is going to be, as a new DC reader I decided to start with Knightfall so the only GL I really know right now is Alex (Hal has just turned into Parallax where I'm at in the continuity). I'm sure most would expect Hal but isn't he quite a bit older than Alex, I'm just speculating on the producers thinking ahead and deciding on going with a younger GL.
edited: Kyle is who I meant, I think Alex was his GF's name.

They could always go with a younger Hal Jordan. Which is probably what they will do. Kyle Rayner pisses off the GL purists to no end. I personally like Kyle Rayner and his style of using the ring, but a lot of the GL fans hated what they did to Hal and how they vilified him.

I really enjoyed that whole fall of Hal Jordan story arch. I could see how it might piss off someone who really liked the character, but the whole thing was just very well done. Without getting too spoilery, the stuff that happened to him not long after was pretty interesting, too.

This sort of thinking is exactly why the Guardians of the Universe keep rejecting your application to join the Green Lantern Corps.

I'd love to see this work.. but then I'd love a Green Hornet movie much like the NOW comics of the 80's.. family dynesty and all that.
I always thought of Justice League: New Frontier as a Hal Jorden/GL POV story.

I personally like Kyle Rayner and his style of using the ring, but a lot of the GL fans hated what they did to Hal and how they vilified him. I really hated it when it happened -- it was badly written (Ron Marz = total hack), and an unjust treatment of a great character. But overtime, I grew to like Kyle as GL, and Hal first as Parallax and later as the Spectre. Later writers took the remains of the Hal character, after Marz's mangling, and managed to work the arc into something that actually seemed to respect the character, while Kyle went on to develop a fun style all his own. So, ironically, I was a hardcore Hal Jordan guy... who was really unhappy when they brought him back to life as Green Lantern in GL: Rebirth. Now, since then I think they've treated all the characters and continuity involved with great care and respect, and we're getting the best GL comics ever. I just found it ironic that, just when they'd made the Hal-goes-bad-Kyle-takes-over thing start to work, they abandoned the entire notion.

looking at those pictures and picturing them wigth the green mask on Cooper looks the best, Reynolds might be acceptable if he laid off the smart ass-ness and JT looks like he'd be a little bitch. other than that he's a horrible actor.

Spoiler for Hiden: So they're going with Hector Hammond as the villain? Sinestro is in the film, so I guess he's still in the Corps and doesn't go rogue until the sequel. I've always felt the poor guy was doomed to super villainy from the beginning, what with that evil, little, moustache, and being named "Sinestro". It's kinda like being stuck with the name "Von Doom". Pretty happy to hear that my favorite Lantern, Kilowog, is going to make an appearance. We just don't see enough alien warthog-looking Galactic Drill Instructors these days.

Side villain maybe, but he's not strong enough a character to get main bad guy billing. That would be like making the Toymaster the main villain in a Superman movie. Lame.

Years ago (like 13 or so), when I was first taking screenwriting classes, the first thing I did, figuring it would be easiest to write a story around characters that were established, was write a script for a Green Lantern movie. I liked it. Also wrote a sequel. I had Evil Star as the villain in the first, and Sinestro in the second. I still have them. Maybe I'll PDF them and post a link.
