God Hates Me

I've been really busy lately, partly because of work, partly because of the girlfriend, and partly just the usual random stuff. So, on Tuesday, I start to feel a sore throat coming on. Yesterday, it hit me hard, but not enough to stay home. This morning I wake up, feel it turning into a head cold, and think to myself, you know, a day off where I can sleep in, get over this cold, and generally have a nice, slow day sounds pretty good right about now.

I get up around 7:30, call the office and tell them I won't be in. Go back to bed, start to drift off back to sleep and... promptly at 8:00 AM a frickin high school MARCHING BAND starts practicing outside, across the street from my bedroom window!

Where the hell is my shotgun?!?!?!?!

WHAAAA?   Oh, I'd be the crazy guy with the shotgun and bathrobe on the evening news!  "DAMN YOU WHIPPERSNAPPERS! Shut the hell up!!"

Unfortunately, I don't own a bathrobe, and I'm not in sufficient shape where  I would look good  on the 6:00 PM news waving a shotgun in my underwear.  

They practiced for an hour-and-a-half. I don't think they were right across the street from me, but damn if it didn't sound like it. I thought I was at a football game for a minute, there.

At least once a year (minimum) the nearest high school starts their parade on the street behind my house. Bet you would never guess what it sounds like to have a large group of kids, some playing in the band, some with their own vehicles (with big ass speakers), and most needing some form of entertainment, behind the house.  :evil:
