Here are senders among the last 10 messages sent to spam in my gmail account:

Paperback Swap
iTunes
Amazon.com
USAA
WGBH
Chase
Capital One
LinkedIn

I have tried adding email addresses to my contacts in the past and it's done nothing. The only way to get a lot of these to show up in my inbox is by creating specific filters to let them in. Doesn't Google realize that we actually use banks and credit cards, and not every message is a phishing attempt? Amazon has so many different email addresses I have to have filters for all of them (and clearly missed one) so I can get info on my orders.

Also, clearly marking things as "not spam" does not help the system learn in any way.

That's odd, I have a few of those and none of them go to spam. Not sure if I did something long ago, but no issues with it wrongly identifying spam.

I should probably stop using your email address when I sign up for porn site.

Sorry, my bad.

I always use TeggyMail for porn sign-ups.  it's the only way to be safe in this day and age.

Btw, you should totally accept the offer and get that extra order of dong cream.

I get occasional complaints from my gmail customers about not receiving order confirmations and shipping notices. Unfortunately, I am unable to tell them to check their spam folders because that's where my correspondence goes, too. It seems that merely being a commercial sender is enough to offend gmail's delicate filters.

This seems to have only become a problem in the past couple of months.

On a tangent...If a retailer phoned you about an order problem because he couldn't raise you by email, would you be impressed or irritated?

I'd be irritated, so I only call people if I can't ship their order otherwise. But some people are tickled pink by the personal contact.

I think most would be happy you called, especially if emails were lost
