I know there's at least a few other fans of the GiantBomb site here, so I thought I'd let you all know.  They just announced Whiskey Media has been sold and split up to a degree.  Most sites are going to some place called BermanBraun (giantBomb is not one of them); GiantBomb was bought up by CBS evidently. Jeff/Ryan/etc. claim that nothing will change with the site, only that they will have more resources to work with for bigger stories. Details are a bit sketchy right now, but I expect to see some articles pop up about this soon.

There's also a huge forum thread going on about it as well:

Not sure how to feel about giantbomb returning to gamespot at all, been following the, ever since Gerstmann gate and loved their silly stuff. There's some obvious good things here but also lots of room for disaster, also this means no more Whitta, Norm and Will hanging out with them I guess.  Tested however seems to have gotten an awesome deal, seriously have to watch this http://youtu.be/3WLG8_dfX9M

In a way Gerstmann gets the last laugh. CBS has done a decent job keeping their "properties" separate, I just hope GB keeps the character they've built... I don't need or want another Gamespot. I like their "indie" feel, hopefully they get to keep it. I'm just wondering how this changes the premium membership...

You can watch a recording of the GB live video even from this morning here

I can't say I'm happy about this news at all, especially as someone who has been paying for a GiantBomb subscription.  As said above, the reason I liked GB is that they had a small, personal, indie feel to everything they did.  I've kind of considered GameSpot to be a dying juvenile-oriented site for the last...10 years or so, so the fact that GiantBomb is now mixed in with them is not a good thing to me.

Also in cool news about the Testet guys.  I always thought they were the sort of guys that would fit in well with the Mythbusters anyway.  smile

FAQ here http://www.giantbomb.com/news/premium-members-faq/4036/

I'm not a fan of change that is forced upon someone like this due to WM being sold, I have a wait and see approach to this but will be very unhappy if GB's content gets softened due to the migration.  I also will miss the interaction between Tested and Giant Bomb and am curious how Tested will integrate with Mythbusters.
