It's the new year, and it's time to get in shape.  If you're interested, starting Sunday Jan 6th please post your body weight.  Then the following Sunday report back with your results and new total.  Instead of creating a new post each week, edit your existing post, and add your results there, so it would be in diary form.

SpicyJ has volunteered his time and skills to create an online database for us to use to plug in your numbers.  Here is the link http://www.jxprime.net/Weighttracker/

Simply register with a user name and password, enter your weight goal.  Once you do that you can enter your weight in weekly.  However, as far as I know it doesn't track your weekly fluctuations, so you might want to also plug in your numbers here as well for a bigger picture.  We'll see if we can add that in.

Anyways, don't forget to weigh in tomorrow!

Feb 3rd 2008

Starting Weight: 249
Last Week's Weight: 226.6

Weight Loss/Gain This Week:  -5.2
Weight Loss/Gained To Date:  -27.6

Today's Weight:  221.4
Goal Weight: 210

1st week recap(Jan 13):  -9.2lbs is a pretty good start!  How was it done?  1.5 hours of cardio on M,T,W,T,S,S and flag football on Friday.  Combined with eating a lot less and making healthy decisions I've been able to get some great results.  Also, I should say I weighed in at 280 in September so this is something I've been at for a few months now.  Everyone else keep up the good work!

2nd week recap(Jan 20):  -6.7lbs  Same workout plan except I skipped Saturday. 

3rd week recap(Jan 27):  -5.9lbs  Just sticking to the same plan.

I'm starting now:

January 1st 2008

Starting Weight: 201

Weight Loss/Gain: ---

Ending Weight: 201

Height: 6'0
Current BMI: 27.3

Target weight by March 5: 185
Target weight by October Marathon: 170
Target weight by December 31 2008: 175

January 6:

I weigh 201 today. So no loss...but I haven't started to count calories...until today and I ran short distances this past week (and will for this week) to get my body used to the pounding again....  So the running plus the calorie count should result in some progress for next week.


Jan 13. 199. However, the synergy of calorie count and exercise is not quite yet to peak efficiency. This week should mark the beginning of the sweet spot in that regard...provided my left knee holds up.

Jan 20. 198. Wasn't as streamlined a week as I had hoped.  Any progress is progress though.

Jan 28. 198.  Unbelievable.  crybaby

February 3. 196.  This slow progress is really disheartening...

February 10. 193.8.  New scale that measures 1/10ths in the house.  Now I can obsess even more.  Don't know what the difference is, but I'm happy with a 2 lb loss.

February 17. 191.4- Was on pace for a 3 lb week this week, but had a late dinner Friday night and that threw the whole thing into chaos.  I even ran twice yesterday to try to get ahead of it, but no good.  <sigh>

February 24. 193.4 -   Had a very stressful week at work with long hours as we crunch on a major deadline (this wed) and I sought refuge in food.  I'm +2 lbs this week- but I'm pretty sure that it's all just stuff sitting in my guts.

March 2. 190.00- Glimpsed the 180's (189.Cool twice this week but it wasn't meant to be.  I'm shocked at how long this is taking as I thought I would have no problem of hitting my March 5th goal of 185.  Looks like i'll be about 189 or so.

Feb 24:Well that feels good: this week puts me at 6 lbs total loss by just moderately watching my diet. I must must must get some exercising in this week, though.
Feb 17:And well, half undid the damage from the previous week. I'm happy I'm at least maintaining the initial weight loss, but man I need to get exercising.
Feb 10:Well, up again.  Had fairly good diet but no exercise the past week.  Once I get into a running schedule again I'm sure I'll be happier with the numbers.
Feb 3:Yay, lost what I gained last week and then some.  I'm trying to organize a way to run home ~5 miles from work three times a week, but I'm lacking in cold weather gear.
Jan 27:Odd, I put more effort in than last week but I gained weight.  Helps give extra incentive for the coming week, though.
Jan 20:I'm very excited to see good results today considering my only exercise this week was from working up a sweat on Rock Band drumming. I guess it must be what I ate. Hope to get back on track with the workouts today.
Jan 13:Dusted off Yourself! Fitness and got 3 cardio workouts in with Maya, with a little bit of strength training mixed in.  I miss having a gym; only have a 40 lb dumbbell set at home. Was good at eating somewhat healthily except for porking out way too much yesterday watching the playoffs.

I don't think it's meant to replace the forums...it's in addition to, and it's not required or anything. It's just a simple way to see all your weights in one place, combined with other people who choose to do it.

To meet my objective I have:
Reduced portion sizes, added apples / oranges in between meals to curb hunger
Shifted my carbs to early in the morning
Gave up soda, coffee, beer, etc.  I drink Diet Green Tea and water.
Moved dinner to 4:00pm
Training in martial arts four nights a week
Added an hour long cardio class before martial arts class on Saturday
Began drafting a personal reward system for meeting certain weight goals
Made my success / failure public

Well, 5.0 lbs a week is a lot. But if you are obese (how tall are you?) then it's easier to lose weight more quickly without concern.

So I don't know that you need to consult a doctor. Rule of thumb is 2-3 lbs a week.  Then the plateau hits and it slows down.

Well, 5.0 lbs a week is a lot. But if you are obese (how tall are you?) then it's easier to lose weight more quickly without concern.

So I don't know that you need to consult a doctor. Rule of thumb is 2-3 lbs a week.  Then the plateau hits and it slows down.

I am  6'1

The unless you're uber muscular, I wouldn't worry about the rapid loss upfront as chances are you've cut out several 1000 calories a day...
