yeah man, maybe he's royalty from Nigeria and trying to find some nice person who can help bring his money overseas for a nominal fee.

After all - odds are at least one of those emails must be legit - right?

I guess he forgot about the "legally binding contract" part of the transaction.
Just for fun why not email him back and let him know that when he bidded on the item he is legally required to make payment (use ebay's own quote to help back it up) and then mention you have discussed the matter with your private lawyer who is willing to take this case to court to uphold the contract between you and the buyer.

Good thing Ebay has that mutual cancellation thing where they refund us and you can let the "fanatical" buyer go without giving him a strike. I have to admit even though it's rare, sometimes you do run into an unexpected problem and can't make the payment.
So yeah.. like Leo says at least he's trying.. now send off that letter threatining legal action against him!  unibrow

Took me a while to realize he meant "financial" troubles.

Maybe Al Qaeda blew up his house, and now he has to use all his savings to replace it.

Let this be a lesson: always remember to get "fanatical" insurance for your house.

Maybe he needs a "fanatical" advisor to help him with a 5 year plan.

It's like a dollar, I wasn't too concerned about the listing fee.   This was a $200 item.  That kinda pissed me off.  He clearly had no business bidding.

But I posted this here to make fun of "fanatical" in place of "financial".  That's one of the funnier misspelling I've seen lately. smile
