Normally I would put this in either Hardware / Software Hell or in the Deals forum, but nearly everyone I know uses this program. (many long beyond the appropriate shareware time limits)

So would it be possible for someone to get it and then ... copy it a few times for us, maybe?  Since we can't get into the site?

And good luck getting in, as already stated.

although i haven't been able to get into the site yet myself, i read somewhere else that the free copies are done by having you sign up for their newsletter, then sending you a product key through e-mail...doesn't sound like just passing the download around will work...

I got one...they send you an email to download the key.  Then you download winrar 3.51 and that's it.  If you get a server error, go "back" and hit "submit" again....and again...and again...and again....

Out of curiosity, do you guys actually use this anymore?  I can't remember the last time I had a *.rar to unpack but it was quite a while ago (and yes, I realize it works on other file formats also but I don't use those either).

I know a lot of Oblivion mods use .rar.

On Usenet RAR is king.

I think all the apps that handle multiple archive types can take care of RAR files.  Then again, WinRAR can handle most everything else as well...

Actually, I use the free 7-Zip for my archiving needs. Extracts all formats (Zip and RAR being the two main ones), and has a very nice compression scheme that tends to be a bit better than the others.

And it's over.  Gotta love the 'free' offers that you can't really get.
