Identity Theft?

So a few years ago we bought a house.  I'm not sure when it started happening, but definitely in the last year, every once in a while we would get mail for a person named Jessica Dean.  On the mailing label, there was a forward label to a different address (like if you just moved).  The funny/weird part is that it's the same apartment complex that we moved from to live in our current house

I thought that was weird and a coincidence, and I would just put it back in the mailbox stating return to sender.

Today, an alarm company salesman comes to our door and asks for Jessica Dean stating that the Census shows her as the owner.  I know on my paper work it's under my wife and my name.  

Now that the Census is showing that it has me a little concerned.  I don't even know where to begin to straighten this out.  

Any ideas?

That said, I'm not sure it can be identity theft if they're not using your identity...

I;d think the biggest concern would be title fraud on your house or something. That said, I've gotten phone calls for other people for years before, sometimes people just really don't update stuff... Can you find out if sa Jessica Dean ever lived there?

Are you sure you don't have a United States of Tara thing going on?  Or do you add a lot of flourishes when signing the name "Ken"?

When we first moved into our new home with a new phone number we would get phone calls for a guy who apparently ran a drywall company. Eventually these calls turned into calls from collectors trying to get money from the guy. I don't know if we finally convinced them we weren't who they thought we were or they just gave up but the calls stopped.

I have also recently had all my deceased fathers mail sent to my office. I am amazed how the postal service now notifies everyone of an address change. Anyone who attempted to "use" your address would trigger a landslide of changed paperwork.

I called the county assessor and they show my wife and myself as the owner and not anyone else.
