I saw a small article over the weekend that a major studio (forget which one) had bought the rights to the Foundation Trilogy. These are great books which will no doubt be butchered as movies..............

eh - how the heck do you make movies over this awesome trilogy? Isaac Asimovs style of writing and his stories doesnt really contain the plot elements, nor the drive that movies are characterized by. And Roland Emmerich?? sigh, we're gonna get another blow-up-the-aliens movie Im afraid, that will perform incredibly poorly. |

I've always the thought that the robot books (Caves of Steel, etc.) would actually make pretty decent movies. They have pretty straightforward sci-fi mysteries and action. Might work well as something on the Sci-Fi channel, like they did with Dune.

If memory serves, they weren't awful, but just more Foundation lore and history for people who enjoyed the story. |

The original 3 were the first non-Hardy Boys books I'd ever read and they turned me into a life long Science Fiction fan. I had never been more surprised in my life when he revealed who the Mule was.  Movies are not needed. |

If memory serves, they weren't awful, but just more Foundation lore and history for people who enjoyed the story. Kind of like how there's only three real dragonlance books (or six if you count the twins books) and the rest is all crap building upon the lore |

Psychohistory is the most intriguing thing ever - because, if you've deal just a little with statistical analysis, you could actually see that is somehat possible to actually make this science work.... but yes, I just dont know how the books can be translated into movies... |
