uh...holy crap. I've been using FF for years and have learned two things about it from this thread.  eek

I still like the back to top/go to bottom on the right click menu, though. Home and End will do for now.  icon_biggrin

Can you install this side-by-side with Firefox 2?  I know I can install it into a different folder, but I'm wondering if it will overwrite my current profile if I do it that way.

I just discovered the single greatest feature/fix of the new version:

All of the image alt-text now appears at once for the xkcd.com comics.

I noticed that to, and it is great. Now I don't need to check the image properties all the time.

Does it seem like a CPU hog for anyone? I haven't checked my usage but as I scroll down a web page, instead of being smooth it kinda flash skips as if its using a lot of resources.

Haven't seen that on either my PC or Macbook.  Smooth as butter for me.

Even on my shoddy work PC (2.8GHz processor, 248MB of RAM, XP SP2), Firefox 3 runs without a hitch. And this is running Sirius Radio and Meebo constantly in the same browser window. Firefox 2 would have occasional RAM issues after a few hours - 3 has none of those problems.

I see an old Firefox problem that drives me crazy.  When I hit back to go to a pretty large page the browser brings me to the top of the page and not where I was.

Edit - It also seems to crash a lot.  It's crashed four times so far.

Whenever I used to log into Hotmail and view a graphic filled email, I'd get lines as I scrolled. It was very annoying. I'm glad they fixed the rendering problems.

As for it being a memory hog, the only thing I've noticed is that it lags if you have a lot of tabs open and takes awhile for the tabs to get into focus. Other than that, it's been speedy fast.

amen brother...no longer have to reload the comic in IETab just to see the whole alt-text message.  that's an especially good thing considering that i haven't yet found a FF3 version of IETab...

I want a browser that doesn't suck, on average, 100-200K of ram out of me.  I know, that doesn't seem like a lot, when I have 4 gigs of ram, but ... it's annoying.

Well so far I like the improved look and toolbar, but my one annoyance is my middle mouse button thing has gone away.  You know, the thing where you click the scrollwheel and then you can scroll the page up or down by moving the mouse.  I miss it already frown
Wait...you're talking about that? I meant the part when you pushed two buttons and it brought up a selectable window of what pages you've visited recently.

Oh I meant AutoScroll.  Where you click the middle mouse button and your cursor changes into a circle, and then you can scroll up and down the page at varying speeds by moving the mouse up and down relative to the cursor.  I love it, but apparently I'm the only one, because just about every google link for "autoscroll firefox" has to do with disabling it.  Luckily that led me to my answer - there's a checkbox on the Advanced options page under the general tab that got cleared when I upgraded.  I'm back in business again!

I want a working imageshack extension/toolbar.  I've grown to really like that thing.  Also the forced word wrap extension I was using came in handy occasionally when people typed long strings of tiny text.  (I have my minimum text size set to 9)  Still, looks nice so far.

Well it killed my Google toolbar and I started getting popups. I redownloaded the toolbar and it installed and is working fine now. No more popups..I hope.

It's faster than Firefox 2, and certainly better-looking (on Mac). Not sure why I'd use this over Safari, though, which is faster still, and more standards-compliant.

Woo-hoo, finally!  Firefox is by far my favorite browser.  As a developer it stands a head above the others with it's add-on features and standards-compliancy.  Using a Mac with Fusion (Vista, Linux) has been excellent, but Safari was just not doing it for me with it's usual layer of Jobs' "this-is-how-I-use-it-so-it's-how-everyone-should-use-it" hubris.  IE has a great interface, but just too many quirks and hacks required to get it to play nice with web pages.

Adblock Plus combined with NoScript - you'll never get anything you never want again.

And nice easter egg. biggrin

I think it's a reference to Futurama's Bender, who often said, "Bite my shiny metal ass!"
