Loved it. Not sure how i missed this when it was on. Good thing Sci-Fi picked it up. getting to start at the beginning is nice. The effects are a lot better than I thought they appeared from previews and such. Its gritty like Farscape but maybe more so. The western'ish music fits it well too. Im interested to see where its going. Its a shame its only 14 episodes. I dont understand why it was cancelled after seeing the first episode. Does it get worse or something?

The only thing i dont like so far is the captain. I thought I was gonna like him then bam he comes across as a hipocrit and a bully. Maybe that'll change. we'll see. I love that ship though. Does look like a firefly..cool engine. BTW I understand its a Firefly class but I never caught its name. Is it the Cortez or did I miss hear that? Also is this Earth's future or a parrallel world?

It's set in Earth's future, and the third episode "The Train Job" was actually the first one aired while the two hour pilot you just finished was the last thing aired before FOX canned it. The show didn't click for me until around the episode titled "Ariel." After that, the captain was more consistent and the show better as a whole I thought. Once you've finished the series, re-watch the premier, War Stories, and the final episode all with commentaries. You'll be rolling laughing. smile

Huh? Two hours? I only saw an hour. Its started with them in a ground war against the Alliance then jumped ahead 6 years to them looted a destroyed carrier. The ending was when they opened a stasis pod a fugitive doctor had on board and it had a naked girl in it.

Did I miss something? Becuase it had opening credits and closing credits.

The first two episodes were "the premier."

Yeah it took about 5 episodes for me to really like the series. I still think its vastly overrated by most of you guys, but it was pleasant sci-fi fun that I wish hadn't been cancelled.

No one badmouthed Mal, he's the highlight of the series, but the first 3-4 episodes had awful dialogue, idiotic stories, and all in all the cast/crew is about twice as big as it should ideally be to get viewers really attached to the crew/characters. As it was, no one had any clue what half of them were doing or what their purpose was, from the annoying, can't do a southern accent to save her life engineer to the more annoying I'm a nice kind of hooker or the Preacher that apparently has some meaning but that otherwise does nothing...

Listen, I enjoyed the series. I really truly wish it hadn't been cancelled, and I will watch the movie as soon as it comes out. But as a series, as a TV show, in the form it was presented to us-it had serious glaring flaws. It was a testament to the universe, the actors, and the excellent writing in the last half of the short series that it transcended those problems and became a fun, exciting, interesting, compelling TV show.

Serenity was the two hour pilot...you've just seen the first half, that's all.  Train job was ep 2.  War Stories was ep 6 or 7 I believe. War Stories was not the premier episode, but Fox may have advertised it that way. :/

Well, um, she was the engineer.

It's quickly established that prostitution is a widespread and respected profession in the Firefly universe.

Apparently he's got backstory that the show never had the chance to delve into.

Anyone who hasn't seen Firefly or is just getting into it would be better off getting the DVDs through Netflix or buying them and watching them in the proper order.  I can't believe Fox screwed up the show order as badly as they did.  They aired the pilot episode Serenity LAST.  Idiots.  I just got into the series myself and absolutely love it now.  I'm waiting on disc 4 to arrive and then the movie in September.

And tiny ogre, you do not know how tempted I am to take a peek at that spolier you put up.   I won't, because I don't want to ruin the surprise but I'm assuming it's a shocking revelation that'll make me want to hate him?  NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Heh, it's just a spoiler from The Train Job.  Having said that much, you probably already know what it is smile.  But there are people in this thread who haven't even gotten that far yet, so I thought it best to hide it.

Never seen the show before. Sci-Fi seems to be showing it in the correct order then. They'll show part 2 next week i guess.

That reminds me of the trailer for Dukes of Hazard where Jessica Simpson says something about it musta jumped up  into her undercarrage. Someone should tell Simpson that that is'nt a southern accent its retard accent.

And considering that earth isn't around it's unlikely that it's really supposed to be an identifiable southern accent. It's just the way she happens to talk  biggrin
