Doesn't look like this has really been brought up for quite some time, so here it is: Whats your top 10 list of bands, in no particular order. Well, if you want, order them but I find this too hard personally. Try not to make it a "<insert band here> sucks, blah blah" message, this is about what you like, not what you dont =] It changes, but here's mine at the moment... 1. John Frusciante - and his side projects (ataxia, namely) 2. Elliott Smith 3. Mars Volta 4. Jeff Buckley 5. Red Hot Chili Peppers - yeah, thats John Frusciante too, but Flea and Chad added into the mix make a pretty awesome team 6. Eric Clapton 7. Led Zeppelin 8. The Velvet Underground 9. Soundgarden - off the strength of Superunknown alone... 10.Stroke 9 It's pretty much guarenteed I'll have at least one album from an artist off that list with me at all times. What bands are you never without?

I'm not very good at making these lists because I always forget something important, and I like a lot of bands, but here's some from whom I will buy a new album sight unseen (or sound unheard...whatever).
Eels Rage Against the Machine Deftones Tom Waits Modest Mouse Tool A Perfect Circle The Black Keys

I figured this was a thread about Morris Day & the Muthafuckin' Time. I can't rate them 1-10 as my preferences do tend to shift, but my all-time hall of fame would include Marvin Gaye, Paul Simon, Myshkin, Peter Gabriel, The Afghan Whigs and Wink Martindale help me, if The Shins put out one more great album, I'll add them too.

I rarely have a "favorite".. usually its more a rotating stack of cd's....
My current stack/rotation: Snow Patrol The Fray Kelly Clarkson Guns N Roses Green Day Joss Stone Kanye West Augustina Dave Mathews (older stuff, the new stuff is more or less crap) Patty Hurst Shifter Embrace Postal Service The Killers
I'm thining it's time to switch out a few, get some stones in there, maybe some Dylan...

No particular order here. Iron Maiden - Rock! Radiohead - trippy but cool Rush - Red Barchetta owns my soul Beatles - always have loved them Opeth - complex and difficult New Pornographers - not deep but still great Spoon - they'd make my list just for "The Beast and Dragon, Adored" Metallica - old stuff is best I'm sure there's others but these are the ones that jump out at me.

Very tough, this isn't in order of preference:
- VNV Nation - Hanzel und Gretyl - The Sword - In Strict Confidence - Apoptygma Berzerk - Covenant - Stabbing Westward - Depeche Mode - The Amelie soundtrack - Piano music is soothing.

I've got tickets to see VNV Nation with And One on June 20. Frontline Assembly in May, VNV Nation in June, hopefully Skinny Puppy in July or August (they're supposed to release their tour schedule any day now), and Assemblage 23 in September. Gonna be a good few concert months.

I might have to go to Seattle to see them... Assemblage 23 should be a good show. Didn't know they were touring...

They've always been a little too dance-hall'ish for me, so I'm a pretty casual VNV fan (only album I have is Empires). I've heard they put on an awesome show, however, so I figure it's worth $20. A23 hasn't officially announced yet, but I've heard quite a few rumors that the western leg of the upcoming tour will be in September/October. I saw them last time they came through, and it was a fun show. They don't sound as good live (Shear loses most of that ominous deep sound in his voice when they play live), but they're very animated and have a great time. Also, they've got a new album coming out later this month. Can't wait!
