For any movie fans near or around places like Philadelphia, PA, San Francisco, CA, Torrance, CA, Joliet, IL, and a number of other places made famous by the film industry, now is your chance to see famous films at the places made famous by those films such as Rocky on the stairs of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, or Blues Brothers at Old Joliet Prison in Joliet, IL, or The Godfather Part II on a roof in Little Italy in New York City. The traveling series is being presented by the Alamo Drafthouse and Levis. And it's free. I wish I could take part in any one of these screenings, but I'm hoping that folks living closer to these areas may be able to take advantage. I can only imagine what it would be like to watch Rocky, in Philadelphia, on the stairs of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Or Blues Brothers at Joliet Prison in Joliet, IL. If anyone attends one of these, I'm sure there are many of us who would like to hear about your experience.

Very cool. It'd be a bit of a drive but I think I'm going to see if I can get some friends together to go see The Blues Brothers in Joliet.

As one of my favorite comedies of all-time, that sounds like it would be an absolute blast. Report back if you guys make the trip!

My son is playing on the Caddyshack (Bushwood) golf course right now! He also made the cover of their summer camp guide (green shirt). The pool scene (doody!) was also filmed in my town, but it's closed down. The City Hall was also the High School in Something About Mary. (franks and beans!)

Here in Joliet now. Huge crowd and severe thunderstorm watch... they're going to wait it out and show the movie after it passes. Woohoo!
Edit: soaked and taking refuge in the car now. They had a cool setup... there was a bluesmobile for people to take pictures with and a pa playing music. Here's hoping the storm passes and we can see the movie!
Edit 2: Prison viewing cancelled. Moved to some church, first 300 ppeople only. Bummer. Going home.

Dude, that sucks. And I remember you mentioning that it would be a bit of a drive for you to go. It's a shame that weather ruined the night. I wonder if the church was a random choice or one featured in the movie during the "do you see the light?" seen with Elwood asking "what light?" Really sorry to hear about the experience. It could have been way cool.

I wonder if the church was a random choice or one featured in the movie during the "do you see the light?" seen with Elwood asking "what light?" It was a little under an hour drive each way, not too bad since we had a few people in the car. I think there was some sort of after party planned at the church for when the movie was done, but it wasn't related to the movie at all, just close to the prison. Drove to Michigan for a wedding over the weekend and made a side trip to New Holland Brewery so all in all it was a good weekend.

Here's a photo I took at the Joilet Prison screening a little bit before it started pouring rain. There was a decent turnout, lots more people off to the left and behind us along with a beer tent and a Blues Mobile.
