well, FOX kicks off the fall TV season tomorrow night with Prison Break (where they get to break out of yet another prison) and K-Ville.  Word on the street is that K-Ville is pretty good, and Anthony Anderson was great in The Shield, so I'll be giving it a shot.  Of course, given my track record with new show I like getting cancelled you may not want to fall in love with the following:

K-Ville
Moonlight
Bionic Woman
Pushin Daisies
Brimston- er, Reaper

Here's a decent rundown of the new shows if anyones interested.

Hmmm, not much really interests me.  Looks like a lot of crap and some more of the same.  I would bet that 90% of that will get cancelled.  I'll keep watching the few shows that I already like and that's probably it.

I watched the pilots for Bionic Woman and Chuck.  BW was just OK, but I enjoyed Chuck more than I thought I would.  I'll watch the first few episodes of both anyways.

Reaper and Pushing Daisies are the only other shows that sound interesting.

For anyone interested, Amazon Unbox has these pilots free to download:

Bionic Woman
Chuck
Life
Journeyman
The Big Bang Theory

Sat down and watched KVille.  Not too impressed- they tried to do a serious cop show but everytime they pulled out their guns they fired like crazy.

I'm continuing my trend of ignoring TV shows until at least their first season is on disc. I'm not wasting time investing in anything cool sounding that's only going to be axed after five episodes on account of not pulling a 40 share against LOST or ER. slywink Which reminds me, I need to pick up LOST season 3 and Heroes season 1 soon.

I wasn't impressed with Kville either. I heard that Journyman sucks, but the vampire show that doesn't have a chance in hell to make it is pretty good. Maybe I will watch Bionic Woman if it makes it past week 6.

I watched Bionic Woman via On-Demand.  I found it by accident actually, and thought it sounded cool, so I watched it.

It was.... average.  But I'll give it a shot, as I thought Heroes stunk then ended up liking it a whole lot.  I suppose Starbuck makes a pretty good "bad guy".  We'll see.

Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares

Chef Ramsey's work in the BBC television show is entertaining and actually uplifting, as it's more a benefit to the restaurants he goes to, and doesn't show off to the camera.  I hope the American version will stay true to that formula.

I will also watch "Big Bang Theory" - as I like the girl they put in the show.  She had a killer body when she played that teenager in that one show a few years back... I wonder if she still does?

The show I won't watch (cause it's on too late for me) but would love to is Cane.  That shit looks like it could be really good, depending how edgy they decide to get.

So far:

Kid Nation - interesting premise. Too many characters. Way too much like survivor.

Back to You - Gave it 3 minutes. Laugh tracks piss me off. I'll decide what's funny, thanks.

Ramsy's Kitchen Nightmares - loved it.

I watched about 10 minutes and found it very unfunny.  Maybe I'll finish watching it on a slow day.

Bionic Woman and Kitchen Nightmares were the only new shows I was planning on giving a try, but a coworker just convinced me to take a stab at Journeyman and Life.  I hadn't realized the Winters actor from Band of Brothers was going to be the main character on Life, he's definitely worth giving a shot.

I'm pretty sure I turned it off because of the laugh track. I might've been able to keep watching and see if it had a certain charm if it wasn't there. But because it was there, I gave the show a pass. I was kind of hoping for a higher-brow of humor like Frasier (which I don't know if it had a laugh track or not). Really the only show with a track that I can watch anymore is How I Met Your Mother. Because it actually is funny. smile

I watched the Big Bang Theory.  The laughtrack is lame.  The show made me laugh quite often.  It should be noted that I am very easily amused though, so it doesn't take much.  I think the 3 of them played well off each other.

I have to do some serious DVR setting.  I've got a bunch I'm going to try out, and hopefully they're not all good, because watching them all would take more time and DVR space than I have.

Reaper
Moonlight
New Amsterdam
Pushing Dasies
Chuck (I suspect it will be bad, but it's my name, so I'm morally obligated to try it)
Back to You
Journeyman (I know it's supposed to be bad, but I like the main actor, so I'll try it)

well, I watched Chuck last night and loved it, which means it'll probably last no longer than half the season.  I can't wait to see Jane deal with the geeks  icon_twisted

KVille is still not clicking with me but I'll give it a few more episodes, and I'm starting to think I'll watch Prison Break just out of the feeling that after 2 seasons I deserve to see how it ends.  I ended up DVR'ing Journeyman because it's right after Heroes and occasionally Heroes runs over but my DVR cuts it off (but not always, sometimes it catches the extra minutes just fine).

I'm kinda looking forward to Moonlight on Friday night since I've started rewatching Angel on DVD.

Does anybody else think that the guy in Chuck looks an awful lot like Jim from The Office?  I haven't watched the show yet, but every time I see an ad I think it looks like they tried to get somebody that looked as much like him as possible.

I enjoyed watching Chuck more so than the other geek show on mondays- The Big Bang Theory.  I couldn't help but notice that both shows had clips of games in them,  Chuck and his friend playing Gears and odd ball geek showing hot chick his NE hunter in WoW on Bang.  I didn't care for Back to You that much and may drop it off the DVR list, that laugh track was annoying and the characters seem pretty much stamped out of a sitcom dye.

I watched Journeyman and Reaper last night.

Reaper was pretty good.  The funny bits were good and the illusion girl from Heroes looked even cuter on this show.  The friend was borderline annoying, but he had some good lines.  I'll add this one to the watch list.

Journeyman turned out better than I expected.  The first half was so-so, but I liked the second half more.  Depending on how many other shows stay watchable, this one could stay or get pushed off the list.

OK, Reaper rocked!  It topped Chuck as my favorite new show so far.  I was kind of 'meh' on Journeyman, I kind of lost interest in the first half hour and only half paid attention to the second half.

Well The critics have voted (somewhat):
Best 5 new shows:
1)Pushing up daisies
2)Reaper
3)Chuck
4)Samantha Who?
5)Women Murder Club

They said the top 3 are surefire gold atm (who knows after the season) while the other 2 arnt as bad as they expected with the fall line up being mediocre.

The Worst 5:
1) Cavemen (Only unanimous choice)
2) Big Shots
3) Viva Laughlin
4) Carpoolers
5) The Big Bang Theory

Last night, Kid Nation sucked me in. As someone who doesn't have children, but is trying, I'm definately hooked...

Spoiler for Hiden:
Last night they made chicken noodle soup. They showed the butchering process of the chicken... Probably the most disturbing thing I've ever seen on television. It's amazing to see that kids can deal with these kinds of things. I've forgotten what it was like to be that young.

I would definately make changes to the show - the challenges detract from the rest of the show, although the caste system is definately interesting and it's good to see them mix that up frequently. But there's not enough punishment for not doing your jobs. In real life, if you were assigned to be a cook and you didn't want to do it - guess what? Fired. No pay. In Kid Nation, there doesn't seem to be enough punishment.

My lesson learned from the start of the new seasons: I shouldn't have watched the first installments of "The War" before catching up on what I taped during that time, and then viewed the rest of the week.  Everything seemed so, I dunno - petty, I guess.  My favorite shows from last year, seemed overly dramatic and lame.  I'm sure the effect won't last, but poor House, CSI, CSI NY, and Criminal Minds, all took a beating in the "suspend your sense of what's remotely believable" department.

I did catch one episode of KVille - thought it was somewhat enjoyable, but yeah, the whole bullets flying everywhere thing was a bit much, and the loose ends and "that doesn't make any sense at all" feelings were way too prevalent.  Journeyman was interesting, and I do like the main character, but I doubt it will make my list of must-sees. I wanted to catch one Big Bang episode, but haven't managed it yet.  I'm thinking that most of these will land on the "might pause while flipping" list. Oh, except for Kid Nation. I've never been able to watch any of the reality shows, and highly doubt watching the kid one will ever happen.   disgust
