I don't get it. Can you not be anti-gay marriage but pro-making a sex tape with presumably a boyfriend? Or is it that she's preaching from a morals standpoint? I can definitely understand if it's the latter.

Pretty much. I don't have a problem with people making sex tapes. I don't have a problem with people getting boob jobs. But if you are going to get fake boobs so you can win a beauty contest while making sex tapes and then come out against gay marriage because of your supposed "good Christian values", don't expect me not to roll my eyes.

Anyway, this is an interesting one.  Is there anything inconsistent with thinking that marriage should be exclusively for heteros and making sex tapes?  I don't get it and I'm pro gay marriage.  Keep in mind she was asked the question at the pageant, she didn't volunteer it.  Are we saying that if you aren't perfect you can't be against gay marriage?  Should she have prefaced her answer with, "while I have made a sex tape in the past, I still believe that opposite marriage is wrong?"  See how the first part has nothing to do with the second part?

I can sort of see where people are coming from here, but ultimately I think it's more that people are happy to see her get embarrassed because they don't like her than any hypocrisy on her part.  Unless this is all based on her statements since the pageant, which I admit I haven't followed all that closely, but this apparently doesn't stop me from commenting here.

TV culture.  People are obsessed with the idea of seeing their face on the TV and living a glamorous life.  Most people are pretty damn boring, and they (correctly) think that the only thing of any entertainment value they can do in front of a camera is to sex it up.  They get to see themselves on the TV doing interesting things, and that's their little reward.

I'd love to have seen the lawyers smirk when he said, "Hey, I've got a little video I want you to look at."  Looks like she broke up with an ex-boyfriend at the wrong time.

If she would have said "I'm not cool with gay people because they make me uncomfortable" then this sex tape would have made zero impact on her lawsuit.  Instead, she hid behind Jesus.

When the widescreen in the conference room started up, she and her team realized they lost her "moral Christian" high ground that she's been banking on. She's thinking of her future here.  If this sex tape rolls out through all the usual channels, the people that have been holding her up as a good Christian soldier are going to fire her out of a cannon, and her next sex tape will be because she needs the money.  By dropping her lawsuit, Ma & Pa Kettle in Podunk, Nebraska (who don't watch anything but the local news and read the Podunk Bugle) will likely never hear about the tape and still believe Prejean is a solid representative of their morals.  Money will follow from that.

While I think she's vapid, and I disagree completely with her political stances, I don't see how the presence of a (presumably intended-to-be-private) sex tape makes her a hypocrite.  AFAIK, there's no biblical expectation that evangelical Christians abstain from videotaping their sweet sweet acts of explicit heterosexual congress.  This isn't the same as Larry Craig voting against civil rights for gay people before wide stancing it up in an MSP bathroom.

Of course, it's been awhile since I've leafed through the KJV, so if I've missed some verse from Deuteronomy or Numbers that done forbade it, please advise.

If you're a holier-than-thou Christian who condemns gay people because of the centrality of your "Christian faith" in your life, you don't get to go and have sex out of wedlock and not be called a hypocrite.
