Broadcasting legend and all around good guy Ernie Harwell has died at 92.  He was truly loved and respected in Detroit and summer baseball wont be the same without him.  Ernie was a class act all the way and was the voice of baseball for millions of fans.  He will be missed

He was loved in all of Michigan. One of the few things my dad and I could talk about and enjoy together was baseball. On warm summer days my dad would sit in the garage with some hideously sweet tea (being from Arkansas and all), listening to Ernie Harwell on an ancient radio. I will never forget 1984.

not too many of the classic announcers left alive much less announcing.  He made the game the center of focus.
Wish today's announcers in all sports would take some cues from the past masters like Ernie.
