R.I.P.

I've never actually read any of his books (which I need to rectify) but I've enjoyed the hell out of many of the movies based on them, plus I love Justified.

He was the king of quirky characters as the centerpeice of his crime novels.  Very entertaining writer.  He will be missed.

I remember, a few years back, talking to my never-do-well cousin newly released on parole and he referred to a equally shady friend of his as his "road dog". I'd never heard the term before, didn't know how long it had been around, but I did think Hmm, that'd be a good title for a crime novel.

Two months later, Elmore Leonard's Road Dogs appeared. Now, someone's going to say the term has been around since the '20s but I'd like to think Leonard was still out there researching ...
