Marcia Wallace who voiced Edna Krabappel in The Simpsons has died

The Character will be retired in the show and not replaced with another Voice Actress

Very sad (she was also great on The Bob Newhart show, BTW).

Interestingly, The Simpsons has been talking about a character dying this year.  Of course, it seems like it would be in bad taste now if it was to be Krabappel.

Of course, they record the voices for these way ahead of time, so it's entirely possible that Edna won't be retired until next season.

No, she finally married Bart after he became an alcoholic, trying to save him that way. That was...2 seasons ago I think? There are rumors though, that Bart may be more interested in Nelson.
