What's that you say? Far too much Superman and not enough of everything else? Then my friends, allow me in the spirit of giving to direct you to this link at AICN wherein you will find a whopping ton of links to all manner of cheap DVD goodness at Amazon. The great internet seller of all things has slashed prices forthwith and if you love DVDs as much as I do, then you might find yourself clicking on a number of their links. Personally, I'm still confused as to what to request for the big day but I'm thinking about filling out my already overstuffed DVD library with a few TV shows and about a dozen movies or so.

But that's me.

Clerks 2 for me.  I was interested in Supes 2: The Donner party, but I hear the pacing is really off on the recut parts.

and holy cotton candy I may be grabbing the Angel series off of Amazon for those prices!

Renting:

Ant Bully
Superman Returns

Provided BB has them today that is, otherwise, in a couple weeks. No hurry.  I love how BB tries to sell DVD's for $15-22 for everything they rent out of.. Yeah right.

Paint a wall in your house.  Any wall, your choice of color.  Grab some popcorn and watch the paint dry for 2 and a half hours.  It'll be more exciting.

It had its moments. Overall, it was a giant-sized retread of the first film and as great as Spacey was as Luthor he never felt threatening until near the end. It's worth a rental, but I wouldn't say it was a great film overall. If you want Superman done right then re-watch the first two with Christopher Reeve. icon_cool

I enjoyed SR, though I felt the ending dragged on too long.  I would have liked the film better if they had chopped out the

For me it was how they boxed the series into a corner with the whole Lois arc. Also, is it too much to ask that in the future we see a villain that actually puts Superman to the test? Is it too soon for Doomsday? I think not.

I believe the next film is confirmed to have a "super villain".

Dunno, never saw it..  I go to the theater 1-2 times a year, and 99% of the time when I have gone to see something "Hyped" it turned out to be total shit.  So I always make it a point to "Rent" the hyped shit right when they come out, and considering I can rent for free, why the hell not?  Even if it sucks, it won't matter.

Just rented See No Evil (tuesday's like a sunday to me  icon_biggrin) and DAMN.. that was one hell of a movie!
If you liked the Saw films, especially the graphic nature of it, you'd definitely dig See No Evil with Kane. Plus there's a hot as hell chick I've never heard of before - Samantha "Kira" Noble..
Highly recommended!

Eh?  I took an instant pass as the guy is a pro wrestler.  Are you suggesting there is merit beyond the hot chick?

I just went to BB to avoid the after-work rush (for the 20 people working in this town, heh).  Anyway..  NO trouble picking up what I wanted.. The Ant Bully, Ice Age 2, Superman Returns.

Grand total on reciept: $0.00,  Thx to Blockbuster Online.

Bought the HD DVD versions of the original Superman and Superman Returns. We watched the old film over dinner, and my gawd, does it NOT hold up after the years! Boring, boring movie...

Watched it last year and enjoyed it quite a bit, probably as much as I ever have. (found it prety boring as a kid, though that's probably because I was usually watching the network version which had like an hour of extra footage).  The effects haven't really held up well, but I thought the rest (particularly Reeve and the score) aged just fine.

Yes, of course!  icon_wink
Remember The Rock used to be a wrestler and had some hits like Doom and Walking Tall.

I picked up See No Evil for free thanks to Blockbuster's Total Access thing, and enjoyed just about every minute of the movie.
There's definitely a story involved (although not a whole lot to it) and it was a professionally done movie. Kane, IMO, was a pretty decent actor in the film, and damn he's HUUGE!!

Looking forward to renting The Marine when it comes out as well, another WWE movie.

Hmm, I'll have to rent it.  Tis free with my rental program, so no risk other than the hole in my soul as I realize that I'll never get that time back if it sucks...

Let's put it this way - it's no better or worse than any other cheezy horror flick.

Personally, I'm going to be all Supered out after this week... the Chris Reeve collection, Superman II Donner Cut (HD), Superman Returns (HD)

I often find this with older movies..  I can't remember what it was, but we watched some movie I thought was "Great" when I was a kid.. Snore...  Boring as hell, and my kids asked to turn it off.   :icon_eek:

Oddly enough, the wife and I watched The Land Before Time recently, and it holds up amazingly well.

Episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the other hand...

Ultraviolet wasn't cheesy.  To call it chease is an insult to the Swiss- it was what you get when you scrape your armpits clean with a butterknife.

I can't disagree with you more. Ultraviolet was beyond worse than what you're describing.

Nothing for me this week, though I think there's a couple of DVD's coming out next week I want.

I was about to eat dinner, so I didn't want to contemplate how watching that movie was like eating a slice of week old smoked ham peeled off the seat of a sweaty, pantsless, underwearless (no, not Hepcat) fat man who just died from terminal dysentery caused by a continuous diet of Taco Bell  :slywink:
