News is breaking on Drudge.
Reeve truely was a great human being. Never any anger at what happened, or even bitterness. Just acceptance and hope.
He will be missed.

Damn, it seems he didn't survive long enough to see his dream of stem cell research letting him walk again.
This is truely a sad day.

I'm sad for alot of reasons, he fought a tough fight, I had hoped for a better future for him. I hope others suffering as he did take heart, people like me won't forget and we will continue to throw our support to their cause.

Sad news. I was working at the hospital when they brought him in after his riding accident that summer. Superman has always been one of my favorite movies. http://www.christopherreeve.org

And lets hear it for his wife as well.
She absolutely stood by him. I saw an interview of the two of them and was so impressed by her love, devotion and hope.

Woke up to this news on my alarm clock radio. Many people will argue whether he is/was a "hero," a sentiment I happen to fall on the pro side of. But even those on the con side will find it hard to deny that he is/was an absolute inspiration.
Think we'll watch Noises Off tonight in tribute.

He's a hero in that he seemed to handle his situation in a very positive manner. A real class act.

No, what is pathetic is the attempts to block stem cell resreach that could have helped this poor man. He was a huge advocate for stem cell research, I am sure he would have wholeheartedly backed any attempt to use his death to help the cause of getting this much needed research started in earnest.

Let me try again. There is no ban on any form of stem cell research.

A ban is a ban These days, when the president’s decision to ban embryonic stem-cell research is correctly and accurately described as a ban, supporters of the president, such as Krauthammer and Frist, get exceedingly agitated. The president, they insist, compromised. "Use what was around before 2001" is not a ban, they say. And, they self-righteously point out, this president has allocated more funding — nearly $25 million — for embryonic stem-cell research than any other president.
Well, sorry fellas, but prohibiting the expenditure of federal funds on embryonic stem-cell research after August 2001 is a ban. It is a ban of limited scope but a ban it most certainly is. From MSNBC

From MSNBCThere is no federal funding for my lawn sprinkler system. Is that a ban? There is also a distinct difference between embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells. At least make that distinction when you're talking about a 'ban.' But this thread isn't the place for this discussion, so I'll leave it at that.
