where's Dogmeat in that pic?  you didn't feed him to the natives, did you?

Unfortunately, Dogmeat is currently not cleared/allowed to go on missions with us ATM.  He does go on formation runs with us though (gotta get a pic of that)

Oh yeah, I modded my good 'ole M16

*whew!* Back from a pretty long mission.  I'm not really one to question the "wisdom" of my superiors on telling the whole damn province of an upcoming operation 2 days in advance, but I guess thats the way its done now.  So about 90% of the buildings my platoon and I were clearing out were booby-trapped and more snipers than usual yay.  On the upside, no KIA in my unit, only a bunch of wounded.

Dogmeat is doing well, and getting kinda fat.  We have a XBOX 360 here but for some crazy reason we are not allowed to play any kind of FPS.  What a world  icon_rolleyes

Back to guard duty:

KATO!!!!

Figured it was something like that man.  Yeah telling the bad guys where and when you are going to be somewhere seems like a brilliant idea to me.   icon_eek

If you can't play FPS, see if you can get Geometry Wars 2... good times and coop. smile

Glad to know you and your unit made it back.

Good to hear from you man.  It seems half the ops you guys are running are announced on the news prior.  My sister heard about some and asked me if it was where you were and I was asking her 'where'd you hear about that'.  It's ridiculous the level of disclosure they have now.

Stay safe!

They have been forced to do that because of activists that love to scream about civilian casualties.    Therefore they tell everyone so the civilians will clear out, and then nothing is left but the traps.

Can't play an FPS when the military creates them as recruitment tools, what hypocrisy  mad

Hey let's play some Tetris so we can all get fired up to go get some bad guys. From a movie quote, "You wear a peace sign and write "Born to Kill" on your helmet" "What side are you on?" "Why don't you come over to the winning team"

You tell your commander (with permission to speak freely and with all due respect of course) that the people of the US want you guys playing FPSs  icon_biggrin

Play Hello Kitty and then go man a MK47, man what's this world coming to.

I can't really complain about our xbox selection, since we actually have an xbox, but its mostly all the old stuff . We have (are allowed to play)  Kameo  icon_neutral , PGR  disgust , King fucking Kong icon_frown , Spider Man 3, and Madden 08.

On another note, I have the up-most  respect for combat medics (Corpsman or 68w). They do pretty much what a line Marine does and more.   After my combat tour is over I might even transfer over to that MOS.  Anyone in this forum do EMT or emergency medicine work?

Oh yeah, found a booby (booty as Peterock would say) trapped soccer ball on patrol the other day.  It was an obvious trap for me to spot and I'm glad I got to it first because I could see a bored Marine walking by and try kicking it.

Good thing Americans play real football and would normally ignore a soccer ball.   icon_wink

On a serious note, that, in my opinion, is just playing dirty.  Not to say that the enemy's war methods have been at all "fair" since the start, but booty trapping......

You mean booby trapping...

That's what I said, booby trapping....anyway, booby trapping an F-ing soccer ball is just evil.

Please keep a sharp eye.  Every time there is a new post in this thread I maintain hope that it is from you just letting us know that all is well.  I've never had a friend overseas in an active war effort, and Jaime and I both continue to hope for your safe return.  Best wishes go out to your wife and family as well.  If the danger you are in is worrying the PeteRock household to this extent, I can only imagine the anxiety your wife and family must be going through.

Pete's post +1 ; the price of freedom is eternal vigilance. We need you to come home safe, you hear? I need you to carry our team whilst I act as the live decoy to draw fire.

Also, think about that soccer ball. If it doesn't work and some local civilian kid goes to play with it... eek mad

+1.  I check this thread all of the time hoping for news you are okay.  I have never known (and "know" is used pretty loosely here) anyone actively engaged in war, either, and I come check all the time hoping you've posted so I know you are okay.  Hang in there.

It must be terribly difficult to engage in war when both sides aren't playing by the same rules.  Snipers and booby traps worry me because if even something as seemingly innocent as a soccer ball can be life-threatening, I can only imagine the level of danger you all must be facing.

Don't.  Touch.  Anything.

+1.  I think I'd go for that even if I knew it was a trap.  Boobies == RickKryptonite();
