This gives me hope that this will go disastrously for DC and they will be back to the old numbering system and lore within a year. Sounds SOOOOOO bad.

Ok, I admit that I have a blind spot when it comes to comics, but when I see a quote like this:

I'm thinking it is time for TPTB to reread Kingdom Come.

so, anyone else still following the new 52?  it seems to be working very well for DC.  I fell behind on my reading, but I just read the first 5 issues of Justice League Dark and quite liked it.  Kinda regretting not jumping on with a couple of other series, and DC seems to be taking their sweet own time getting the collected editions out which makes it even more unlikely that I'll catch up with them.

on another note, 6 of the new titles are going away to make room for 6 new ones, the 'Second Wave':

Spinning out of events in "Batman" and April prelude issues of that title and "Nightwing," the story will see its spine unfold in the pages of the titular Bat title starting with May's #9 as the attack of the Court of Owls echoes throughout the line in comics like "Nightwing," "Batwing," "Batman & Robin," "Batgirl," "Birds of Prey," "Batman: The Dark Knight," "Catwoman," "Red Hood And The Outlaws" and "All-Star Western." And to go deeper into the event, CBR is turning its regular Batman coverage into THE OWL SIGNAL – week of special interviews highlighting some of the event's biggest tie-ins.

it's going to interesting because Avengers vs X-Men is also going on in May, which means I'll be buying an additional 15 comics I normally don't get that month.

Enjoying what I've read so far, which has been Batman, Batgirl, Batwoman, Detective Comics, and Catwoman. Supergirl too, which has been an interesting one. I like the artwork in all of them, and the stories have been pretty good. Lots of tie-ins as well.

Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Suicide Squad, Batman and both Legion of Superheroes titles are on my must read list each month.  The first two are stellar.  Suicide Squad has surprised the heck out of me and I'm enjoying the hell out of that one.  It's definitely NOT the comic I expected to like as much as I do.  As for the Legion, they're hit and miss but I've been reading LoS comics since I was 6 and I don't plan on ever breaking the habit.

Much of Batman's history and timeline remains intact. With the exception of Stephanie Brown, all of the Robins have been accounted for and Barbara Gordon has spent time as Oracle, recently returning as Batgirl. The stories build on recent developments, and Bruce Wayne is again the only Batman.

So it seems there is established backstory for Batman that you are assumed to know. However, contrary to this, they have changed Superman's past in a lot of ways. How does that work exactly? If certain things happened in the past for Batman when he interacted with, say Lois Lane, those things didn't actually happen, but other things did?

I guess my question is, if you pick up Batman #1, is the assumption that you know what happened to Robin #4? If you want to pick up a superhero comic without any baggage, is it better to go back and just read a Marvel Ultimate's title?

I'm only reading only the main Batman titles currently (Batman, Detective, Dark Knight, Batman & Robin and Batman Incorporated) but so far it appears most of Batman's recent history has remained intact.  He did 'die', was replaced by Dick Grayson, and then came back to link Wayne Enterprises to funding Batman Inc.  overall it was mostly new reader friendly at the relaunch, but getting into some of the titles may leave you with a bunch of questions now.  DC isn't helping by taking their good old time releasing collected editions of the new 52-  they're being staggered and some of the volume 1's are not due until November.

I have a feeling Stephanie Brown may be resurfacing soon-  the next arc for Batman & Robin is titles 'War of the Robins', where a mysterious third part clues in all the past Robins about the new Robin's habit of
