I'm so happy my nervousness regarding Ledger as The Joker seem to have been needless.

As scary as that sounded six months ago, it looks like the truth. Word is the full trailer hits this weekend and will be on the Net shortly thereafter. Sweet mercy, if it was possible for a film to be more anticipated I don't know what it is.

I saw the bootleg trailer and can say Ledger looks excellent as the Joker.  Very realistic and creepy.  The HD version goes up on Monday, I hear.  Can't wait.

it was bootleg because it was recorded using either a video cam or someone cell phone cam and not an official release.

I Am Legend. I am asking why he said it was bootleg because he sat next to me and watched it-but I didn't look at his timestamp-it was before we were at the movie (which was really excellent FYI). The trailer was outstanding.

Another article which makes me excited about this movie.  It sounds like they are making all the right moves!

The Joker is one of the most lasting and iconic figures of pop culture, due in large part to the portrayal by Jack Nicholson in the original Batman. However,in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Nolan said:

“Harvey Dent is a tragic figure, and his story is the backbone of this film.”

And to fans of the comic, this makes a lot of sense. Harvey Dent (played by Aaron Eckhart) is a District Attorney for the city of Gotham, and will feature as the main villian in the next sequel, after he disintegrates into Two Face, a character last played on the big screen by Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever, around which time the last Batman franchise started becoming a byword for laughable. Harvey Dent himself has never really been a focus of a Batman movie, and it seems that Nolan intends to change all that, by focusing on the character before he becomes a villain and showing a more human side.

Oh my sweet merciful Lord God on High.....

If you ever wanted to see what the Joker from the comics is like when accurately filmed, "The Dark Knight" appears to be your answer. Holy Christ. Be aware that there are some gigantor spoilers in the trailer if you aren't aware of at least the basic plot, so those looking to go in as clean as a whistle will do well to steer clear. That being said, this trailer is a mountain of awesome and gets me jonesing for a movie far more than the Indy 4 trailer.

I agree-  I doubt we'd ever see it in full lighting like that.  It doesn't quite match up with the toy though, so it could be a concept piece.
