This Just In: Hollywood is officially out of ideas.

Ah well, it's better than a sequel to his record I guess.

So, in the last year we've seen to Rambo, Indiana Jones, and now Axel Foley.  Sooooooo...A new Dirty Harry Film Up next?

Maybe the D-rate Ninja/Martial Arts movies will make a comeback.  Cynthia Rothrock, where are you?

Clint has said absolutely no way. Which is a shame because I could see it working.

Weren't all the Beverly Hills Cop movies rated R? I guess with the family friendly Murphy we'll see it edited down to PG-13. Either way I can't imagine it being any worse than some of his recent stuff.

Really? The last I heard there was going to be another one and Harry was going to die in the movie. This was in the last few weeks.

There was a rumor that Eastwood was going to do another one but he basically came out recently (at Cannes maybe?) and said it was completely untrue and the Harry Callahan would be retired by now.

We need to be more specific in our future complaints.

"Dammit, Hollywood, stop it with the remakes!" should become "Dammit, Hollywood, stop basing movies on old TV shows, board games, cartoons, toy series, comic books, novels that have been adapted before and other movies that were fine the first time around!"

Kind of off topic but thought I'd share. The Beverly Hills Cop TV series was up against my friend John Dixon's show - Intelligence. John also writes for Permuted Press (my book publisher) and the show is based on his unpublished book Dissident. Intelligence stars Josh Holloway (Sawyer from Lost) and has a little bit of a Chuck vibe to it. I hope it's a great show.

This is can't-miss territory.  Beverly Hills Cop II and III were excellent movies and an Eddie Murphy movie is a Hollywood "sure thing" right now.

In case you were wondering, everything written above is false.

I rewatched 2 recently.

It wasn't terrible, but it was definitely missing the magic of the first one.

Third one was taken off netflix before i got to it.

looks like this is finally going somewhere:

Quote
The first project under the new deal, however, will be a new Beverly Hills Cop movie — a reboot of one of Bruckheimer and Paramount’s biggest successes together when he produced the original with late partner Don Simpson. Eddie Murphy closed his deal to reprise his role as Detroit cop Axel Foley — this time Foley will be returning to his Detroit roots. It will be the fourth installment of the lucrative franchise. Brett Ratner, who is currently finishing up Hercules for MGM, is attached to direct the film as soon as his duties on the Dwayne Johnson-starrer finishes up. The picture bows in July. The Beverly Hills Cop script is still being worked on.

You, just for the heck of it, I did Google it and was surprised that it turned up the real reference.. I was expected it to link to an "alternate" reference.. Would make an interesting movie title...

It's safe for work. In fact, I'm not sure they know exactly what springs to mind with the domain "dpchallenge.com".

The fifth one was this:
