Ron, I donated - sorry for the small amount of my donation...money's tight as we have some huge cost related to our move back to Phoenix, but I hope it helps.

1) Casual Browser who rarely posts except about their system/game of choice
2) Hardcore GT guy who's posts usually involve snide comments and insulting anyone they disagree with (even in jest)
3) Trolls

So people who are helpful and make useful and good comments need to go find a different place... smile

I fall into two columns their, and neither one rhymes with "done".

So what are we at now, Mister Dragon sir? You said $150, and after my donation it brings it to $150.03..

Depends on the current exchange rate for that silly money you have Purge....

Ooo, that 7 percent is a doozy.
Besides, I used paypal and donated 3 cents US.

To answer the question - we are at $220 at this point, not counting any checks that anyone has promised to mail in.

Oh damn, it's so hard for me to help out with anything EA related; just a bit too much baggage.

1st the negative stuff:
  • EA Canada plowed down the beautiful woodlot behind my high school to build their modern Frank Lloyd-Wright'ish game factory; many local residents were pissed. thanks EA  finger
  • We currently have a number of EA Canada refugees on staff, needless to say they're quite emotionally wounded and don't have many kind words for EA.
  • My own sister is an EA refugee.
  • Paul Lee was forced out of EA.

Now the positive stuff; yes there is some.
  • When the company I work for went public, Paul Lee was 1 of our 1st board members and he was very helpful.
  • EA is the 3rd party that is best supporting my current fav console -Wii- and I appreciate their efforts.
  • When I was previously employed at 1 of the Big 4 consulting firms, I did a 2 month gig at EA Canada which was a positive experience and I made some great friends.
  • The nice playing field with the back drop of beautiful mountains that's featured in many EA Sports games -was unlockable in FIFA 2000- is what remains of the old woodlot behind my high school; at least something positive was preserved of it.

Although it pains me to support any endeavour involving EA, out of my fondness for GT I'll help out. Ron, I hope my contribution helps.

It does, very much.  When put in perspective like this it means even more as you are doing it purely to support the site, having nothing to do with EA.  I appreciate that.

As of this morning we are at $410.   I suspect that we'll be within reaching distance of that $500 pretty quickly.

Wow!  With some very generous donations, we've reached our goal!  You guys have no idea how much this blows me away.  So....I'll give you something in return:

The new site rebuild will launch on October 15th.  I'll need a few volunteers to take a look at the front end to find bugs and such with various browsers very soon, so some of you will get a sneak peek!  We'll be doing a staged launch with the bulk of the features live from day 1, but trust me...this isn't just a new skin for the site.  Eldon and Mike have worked very hard on this rebuild to make sure that it is the best it can be.  I think we've come pretty damned close to that mark and I can't wait to show it to you.

So I won't.

As I said, it'll be a staged rollout, so some features may or not make launch, but it'll be a huge step forward for the site.  I think you'll like it.  smile

Thanks again all - I just can't express my appreciation enough.

And the new site redesign launching in a couple months looks great!  Can't wait.

I gotta pay better attention - I thought this was another "Lockdown Deoderant" thread! I missed it!

That title was a little misleading in light of that thread. Although taking deodorant/antiperspirant would probably be a good thing...

I also wonder why not sticky-ed? Though in the end it was unnecessary...Oh I get it! KD had such confidence... Yeah, that's it! icon_wink
