OMG! I loved this book as a kid, and now they're making it into a movie! I wonder how it's going to hold up- should I skip it and let my good memories stay or risk them all? |

just saw this on Starz and thought it was pretty fun. didn't realize it had both Bruce Campbel and Mr. T doing voice work for it plus Doogie as a monkey!

This movie was one of my favourite surprises last year. I thought it had some absolutely hilarious moments and was really well put together.

kids really like it, and while it isn't as good as some of the other book-movie conversions (horton hears a who is the best in that category, imo) it was pretty enjoyable.

I watched this on a flight (it was free) and really enjoyed it too. There was plenty in there for the adults as well as the kids. I had never read the book, though.

I, too, was really surprised with how much I liked it. Really very funny thoughout.

I thought Horton ranks right up with Shrek 3 and Cat in the Hat as one of the most unfunny "kids" movies I've ever seen. yeah, but then we didn't have the strong negative reaction to those movies either. i thought that the animation and voice casting was pretty good and it had enough funny parts for both kids and adults. i do think it's better than both of those movies you listed though, and while it's no pixar movie, it's still pretty good. i enjoyed it more than the last ice age for example, and certainly more than the last few disney offerings. |

The last Ice Age was pretty dreadful IMHO. I saw it at a drive in double feature with Half-Blood Prince and I couldn't wait for it to end. Horton was good. Certainly much better than the other movies you mentioned. Critics thought so, too. 78% compared to Shrek 3's 41%and Cat in the Hat's abysmal 12% on Rotten Tomatoes. |
