Anyone else have a mom/spouse/SO that cleans before the cleaning crew comes?

Anyone else see this as obsessive compulsive and self defeating?  Not to mention a waste of money?

Having been in nursing school with a whole gaggle of womens, I've known more than my fair share that exhibit the behavior you describe.

When asked 'em point-blank, almost all of them say it's "just something I have to do" while acknowledging that it completely defeats the purpose of hiring a cleaner. *shrug*  At least they're fun to look at.

I do it, and it's because I care what they think. I don't want them to think I'm disgusting slob, when in fact I am. So I try to make it presentable enough for them to clean. I know I shouldn't give a shit about what the cleaning lady thinks of me, but I care, guess I care to much slywink

I do the same thing.  Not so much because I care (although I do), but because I think it's common decency.  I pick up after myself anyway so the job isn't that hard (just vacuum and I'm happy) but I don't think I should leave, say, a gnarly toilet or something.  That's just sick.  Plus I don't think I pay enough for that kind of service.

Its fucking nuts, but yeah I know people that do that.

Picking up your personal shit is one thing but actually CLEANING with sponges, chemicals, mops, brooms, vacuums, etc. before the person you are PAYING to do the same thing comes over...that is stupid.

Wow, I thought that was just a woman thing.

I wouldn't leave the place a complete wreck, because that's like living in filth.  But to wash dishes, clean the bathroom, etc... well, why even have a cleaning person if you are going to do all that?

It's not really as expensive as one might thing.  I can probably find someone to come in once a week, clean the bathroom, vaccuum, and clean my kitchen for about $30.

I was meaning to get one a while ago, but, well, I'm a cheap bastard who would rather have a somewhat messy apartment than pay $120 a month.

Plus, my apartment isn't huge.  Paying someone to clean it just feels incredibly lazy.

The only thing I like to do is clean up clutter. I put stuff away so it is easier for them to clean. If you don't, they end up moving it all over the place anyways.

I definitely do not clean using chemicals and such. If I did that then I wouldn't need them at all.

I hate this, I remember one time when I was at home, my mom yells at me "clean your room so [insert name] can make your bed!"

That makes no sense, living on my own I can do my own cleaning to begin with. It's a waste of money if you are going to clean to make the cleaning people's jobs easier.

I make sure I remove all my porn from the visable sites the day before my cleaning people show up. I use to have a cute brazalian women and I did not want her stunbling upon it. Now that my cleaning person is a man...I still feel compelled to stuff whatever porn laying around in boxes in the closet

I don't know why my cleaning lady makes my bed.  I never make my bed unless I am changing the sheets or having people in my bedroom.  Except on those days when my house is cleaned.

Once you have a cleaning lady you will never go back, my wife and I havent cleaned a toilet in over 10 years.

And its soo not expensive. Every other week she comes and cleans my house (3 floors, 3 Bathrooms, tile floors, changes sheets....) 3 thousand square foot house 70$.

Money well spent, I would spent a whole weekend day If I had to wash the floors, clean everything....

WORTH IT
