I saw this tonight and was surprised by how much I liked it. I thought it was going to be terrible from the reviews. Instead it was a great looking and very epic fantasy. I mean EPIC, some of the battle scenes were amazing. Good action, a little humor and a decent remake.
Holy necro-thread! Well, I caught this on cable the other day (I wanna say TNT, though perhaps it was AMC or FX) and kind of echoed Crusis' thoughts. I declined to see it in theaters, and ignored it all these years, and in the end I at least kind of enjoyed it.
I don't generally find Sam Worthington all that empathetic but I actually liked him in this, and the idea of his character having the DNA of a god, so to speak, but wanting to fight alongside "mere mortals," was compelling to me. I guess I didn't remember that aspect of the original film, just the stop-motion stuff.
And the battle up the tower? What did it remind me of? The Raid: Redemption, minus all the drugs.
