I whole heartedly agree with the choice. As soon as I saw what Moliere posted I thought maybe I just shouldn't bother this round. Super Size Me was perfect for those topics.

The Matador

Pierce Brosnan plays Julian Noble, a burned-out perverted executioner who constantly drinks, smokes, and chases women of all ages.  An odd buddy comedy with a burned-out "facilitator of fatalities" befriending a down-on-his-luck advertising representative who has lost his job, his son, and his wife's faith in him as well.  But together the two rediscover themselves and get their lives back on track.  In one scene Brosnan's character, after a few too many drinks, decides to go to a particularly perverted sex club down a dark alley in Mexico.  The film has a few odd, disjointed sex scenes thrown in at random times which certainly make for an uncomfortable moment when watching this film on your portable DVD player on a flight with a nosy traveler in the seat next to you.

The Mission; it's story encompasses all 3 verbs.

Jeremy Irons as Father Gabriel is a Spanish Jesuit missionary sent to a South American republic to convert the natives to Catholism. Meanwhile Robert Deniro as Rodrigo Mendoza, a Spanish Slaver remorseful at the murder of his own brother, is converted to Christianity, is embraced by his once native victims and is ordained as a Jesuit Priest. When the control of the republic is transferred by treaty from Spanish to Portuguese hands, the intentions of the Catholic church are perverted by the fear of loosing influence and dominion over the Crowns of 18th century Europe. To preserve the status quo the Church abandons the missions' natives to certain enslavement at the hands of their new masters. Consequently Father Gabriel, Father Mendoza and all the other missionaries are fatefully diverted from their clerical vocations to one of rebels and the military defence of their beloved native congregation.

Groundhog Day

Bill Murray goes perverted while socially engineering the blonde from the diner, getting her to play dress-up.  He diverts the funds from the armored car.  He converts Andie McDowell into believing he's actually a decent guy.  And he takes piano lessons leading up to the big finale.

Sister Act

Since it's Whoopi Goldberg, I'm sure Kronovan will pass (not wanting to admit he even KNOWS about it Tongue) Anyways, she's a lounge singer who witnesses a mob murder, and gets witness protection and is put in a convent. She ends up converting the church choir to a more hip and modern state.

The Hunger

Catherine Deneuve plays Miriam Blaylock, a vampire (or vampire like) woman that converts David Bowie's character; her lover ,John into a vampire to spend an eternity together.  Only after a couple hundred years does he find that he's not actually immortal, but that she just perverted his mortality into a grim death that is just forever being diverted from it's peaceful conclusion, just like she's done to a dozen or so other past loves (all boxed up in the attic)...

great flick.

Just for the record, if you take a jab at me when I'm judge you don't necessarily win. Purge won this round because his choice of Sister Act fits the bill perfectly; can definitely see how 'convert', 'divert' and music lesson fit into that movie. I don't know where he got the idea that I would hold it against a film for having Whoopi in it. I mean come on dude she was Guinan on ST:TNG, how can she not be awesome!

Hmm...on 2nd thought it was probably just a ploy since he knew he finally came up with a decent choice.  Tongue

I had considered this one, but I guess we have a difference of opinion when it comes to the definition of "tall".   icon_wink

Patrick Swayze at 5'10" doesn't strike me as fitting that definition, not that Gregory Hines is much taller.

I hate to break it to you 2, but with those actors you're not even in the ballpark. Here's a movie with someone that actually fits the bill; Saturday Night Fever.
At 6'2" Mr. Travolta makes the cut and according to my spouse he's dark and handome too. Not to mention that he can dance like the Devil and that he's a 2 time academy award nominee.

Got to disagree with you on that one Pete, his partner -Stephanie- was the more experienced of the 2 and definitely took the lead/coaching role in their dance practises. Besides that's only one aspect of it; the most important being that Travolta gets well schooled in the dance of life in that movie.  Tongue That might sound like I'm stretching it a bit, but watch the movie again; disco dancing is the only good thing going on in Travolta and his friend's lives. It's a dance of life that Travolta suceeds at while his friend Bobby tragically fails at. Learning 'the dance' is actually the whole point of the movie.

Take the Lead

Rob Brown certainly counts as tall (6' 1"), dark (African American) and handsome.  Otherwise, take Antonio Banderas as the last two of the three, teaching dance in the NYC public school system.
