Real Genius
At a party featuring bikini models, water slides, and a pool, Val Kilmer pretends to sun himself on a beach chair with a folding metal tanning tray even though the party is at night.

Apocalypse Now. Lt. Killgore would always throw a beach party to celebrate a victory and the wonderful "smell of napalm in the morning." One of the funnier moments is when Sam bottom's surfer king character is seen lounging on the deck of their river boat, sunning with a bent sheet of aluminum to ensure he soaks up all them rays. As well there's lots of scenes of shaving, because they were after all in the clean-shaven army. Need I mention the crazy party / spectacle involving dancing playboy bunnies in dah Jungle! Hell...there was even scenes of SURFING admist mortor explosions...well maybe not surfing the net...anyways, ironically there was lots of partying in that movie.

Pitch Black. One of the final survivors of the ill fated, ship wrecked crew is, as described by the words of Riddick, "some hoodoo holy man, probably on his way to New Mecca". And in one scene Vin Diesel -Riddick- shaves his head with a knife and axel greese, giving us one of the finest shaving perfomances to ever grace the silver screen.

The Pink Panther Strikes Again
"Several nations send murderers to kill Clouseau at the Oktoberfest in Germany; however, in his typical bumbling fashion, Clouseau manages to evade each assassination attempt just as it is about to happen, so that the assassins all kill each other instead. The assassins of twenty-six nations are killed in the attempt; the only survivors are the Egyptian (an uncredited cameo by Omar Sharif) and Soviet Russian operatives. The Egyptian assassin, sneaking into Clouseau's hotel room, shoots a man he believes to be Clouseau (who is in fact one of Dreyfus' henchmen, who had taken it upon himself to assassinate Clouseau). The Russian operative, Olga Bariosova (Lesley-Anne Down), who has sneaked into Clouseau's room, seduces the Egyptian, similarly mistaking him for Clouseau. His passionate sexuality convinces her not to assassinate him; when the real Clouseau makes an appearance, he is surprised to discover a beautiful woman in his bed who confuses him further by declaring her undying passion for him, and by finding a dead man in his bath."
(trivia: everybody's favorite Oompa Loompa Deep Roy was one of the assasins)

The Good the Bad and the Ugly or Buono, il brutto, il cattivo if you like. A legendary film directed by an Italian, filmed in Spain, acted by Americans, that challenged the premise of the white hat / black hat John Wayne western in every conceivable way. At one point in the movie Blondie (Clint Eastwood) and Tuco (Eli Wallach), who being gunmen for hire are the wild west equivalent of mercenaries, actually end up as mercenaries serving in the Yankee army. The biggest blundering moment -there's many- occurs when our 2 reluctant protagonists, disguised in Confederate uniforms, see an approaching company of confederate soldiers. The always melodramatic and foolish Tuco shouts out "Hail to the confederacy and God bless General Lee", only to discover moments later that they're actually Union soldiers in very dusty uniforms. That errant moment causes a complete 90 degree turn in the films plot. In a sense the whole movie is a see-saw back and forth between Blondie and Tuco where one gets the upper hand while the other blunders or slips. In the end Tuco, due to a few too many blunders, is left as the ugly man out with rope tied hands, a bag of gold at his cheek, in a lonely graveyard in the middle of no where with no way out.

Either way, Mr. Rock better get a point. Maybe he better be judging... Fuck. And here I was thinking, "Hmmm, what the hell ever happened to our cineplexity game?" I guess I've just been a bit disappointed with my choices. While In Bruges is a personal favorite, I don't think I can classify the characters as mercenaries (or miners or missionaries). I've never been much of a western fan so I unfortunately can't go with kronovan's choice. I think I'm going to have to go with Stardust. For some reason De Niro's role in Stardust has come up in a number of conversations lately and I just love the idea of a lightning-mining gay pirate. He's like a cracker Kato without the eye patch.

One of the best animated features of all time: Marlin, an Ocellaris clownfish, loses his son Nemo when he is kidnapped by a scuba diver for his own dentist's office saltwater aquarium. Marlin ventures out into the big blue ocean in order to find his lost son and during his travels he meets Dory, a clumsy, bumbling, and forgetful royal tang. The two join together and travel all the way to Australia to find Marlin's lost son Nemo. Finding Nemo is yet another example of Pixar Animation Studio's amazing talent with not only animation but with great storytelling, endearing character development, and humor for both children and adults alike.

City Hunter .357 Magnum I'm taking a bit of a risk here, as I'm not sure if everyone here knows anime well...anyhoo. The entire City Hunter series and movies have to be the ultimate in animation for featuring a bumbling character. Out of all the City Hunter seasons and movies, none of them gets it better than .357 Magnum. Our bumbler is none other than private detective Joe (Ryo) Saeba, who's conniving, lecherous attempts at sex nookie-nookie are always thwarted by his ever watchful partner Kaori. The bumbling is great and the consequences are hilarious as Kaori always seems to magically pull enormous hammers out of thin air to nail poor, pitiful Joe.
