Anyone know why a car's instrument panel won't light up but the needles do? Are there seperate bulbs for the needles and the face or back lighting? Should I just call up the Ford place and ask about prices. I'd hate to have them charge me for a simple bulb replacement if it's simple. I don't know if it matters but these are white faced gauges that the owner before me had put in. I don't know who made them.

Dumb question, but did you accidentally dim them using a dial or button?

Dial works on everything except the gauge cluster..even the needles dim.
I thought if it was the fuse then even the needles would not light up. Is that incorrect?

Come to think of it I dont think my ac controls are lighting up either. Ill have to check that too. I hope he didn't leave the default green in there. I'd rather have blue.

Hard to know what they put on each fuse. But the fuses are an easy thing to check. Between the fuse box and the owner's manual should be able to pinpoint the fuses.

I checked the fuses. All seem ok. Called the local Ford dealer. They said $89 diagnostic fee and then from there. Guess I'll just swing it by next week.

I checked all the fuses when the fan in my wife's dash stopped blowing heat. They were fine, so we took it to our gas station mechanic. Turned out she'd kicked a wire loose under the dash. Cost us $45 to have him plug it back in. (We also had some other minor work done, so I didn't mind paying for an hour of labor).
I hope yours turns out to be equally simple. Too bad you have to use a dealership.

Step 1: Find some Libyans Step 2: Trade them a Nuclear Warhead filled with parts from old pinball machines Step 2a: Replace fuse with plutonium from warhead. Step 3: Profit! Step 4: (Optional) Get a Mr. Fusion installed in your car.
