Since ive been in the hospital and am going back Monday the wife and me have been on a movie watching blitz. We've watched all 3 Indiana Jones movies, 3:10 to Yuma, and tonight we watched Die Hard. I have DH2 tomorrow and hope to get the other 2 afterwards. She asked about westerns and I mentioned Unforgiven and that Sharon Stone movie again we've seen once. But we're both wondering how the Bourne trilogy is. We love action movies and the trailers Ive found online seem to point in a good direction. Are they though?

The first one's awesome. The second one is decent enough but not nearly as good as the first. The third ranges from "almost as good" to "even better" than the first depending on your preference.

Good action movies, and certainly worth watching (especially if you haven't read the books).

Wonderpug's opinion perfectly matches my own. While the second is the worst in the series, it's still pretty good - and the series in all is a bloody fantastic set of films. Really good fun.

I thought the 3rd was the worst in the series. All the movies in the series have quick edits during the action but the 3rd takes it to the extreme.

I can't stand the stupid ridiculousness of 'Bond' movies. I like the Bourne series because they're gritty, smart and I really like the way they edit the films - although, I can understand how many did not like the 'closeness' of the 3rd movie - I find it rather intense and put you into the fights rather well.
They are all definitly good, entertaining movies. They're all pretty solid and I recommend them all if entertainment is what you seek.

Yeah, they're awesome. As others have mentioned the action scenes may make you sick if you have a weak stomach for quick edits, but on the whole, the series is excellent. Good soundtrack, too.

I think the Bourne series is fantastic, and easily one of my top 'trilogy' film picks, ever. They are very fast paced and exciting, and the fight scenes are fantastic. Filmwad even presents an argument that the Bourne series is the best American film trilogy ever made. (link contains spoilers)

If youve read the books then completely separate them movies from the book plots, except for the absolute basics they are completely different. If you can do that, the movies are quite good as a separate entity.

I like Die Hard 3. The ending is crap but I thought the rest was pretty clever. If anything, Die Hard 3 gets better for me as time goes by- I like it now more than I did in '95.

I've only seen each movie once, but I enjoyed all three. The only thing I hated was the editing during the action sequences - it seemed a little shaky.

I think I liked the second 2 Borne movies about the same. The first one just blows them away, and they pale in comparison. Instead of the greatness of the first one, they're just really good.

I can't stand the stupid ridiculousness of 'Bond' movies.
I think the last Bond movie was quite gritty. And I think the reason why it was so was because the Bourne movies led the way and showed them how to do it right. Good on the Bourne movies.

I can't stand the stupid ridiculousness of 'Bond' movies. Watch Casino Royale. Haha - I made it about an hour in and passed out (which is weird, I never nap in the afternoon anymore). It was pretty cool, but not really my bag. Really have no desire to see it all, although I probably will when it's on TV.

+1. My wife and I couldn't stand any of the Bond movies, especially the last one with Hally Berry. Ugh, what a train wreck. Casino Royale, on the other hand, is one of the best action movies in years, IMHO. BTW, as far as Bourne goes, it's one of my favorite trilogies, if not my favorite. Definitely watch them.
+20. My wife gets pissed off at me when I buy the Collector's Edition of anything, and she suggested that we buy the Bourne box set.

Is the Bond hate directed at the Pierce Brosnan releases or the Bond series in general? I hated the Brosnan ones but I can't see you guys could hate on Thunderball, Goldfinger, and From Russia With Love. A big part of why I loved Casino Royale was because it brought things back closer to how the old movies felt.

I grew up watching the Roger Moore Bond, and later watched Sean Connery. Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan's Bond movies were terrible. I think Brosnan was a good Bond, but the movies themselves were horrid. Dalton was just bad from the get-go.

The only issue I have with the Bourne movies which I believe is indisputable is the fact that each movie follows the exact same formula and by the time you reach the third movie you can almost guess what you expect. Bourne investigates identity, gets too close and then spotted, makes epic escape, yada yada yada. The only unique aspect of the third film was the conclusion, which obviously the first two couldn't provide.

"Fun and hijinx follow" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_conceptFormula doesn't bother me unless it bores me. House (until recently) was an excellent example of done to death bad forumla in a show that worked exceptionally well. How could a show that was essentially "Pull random rare exotic deadly infectious disease from medical dictionary. Misdiagnose it several times. Find a cure from a clue presented by an unrelated event" have been so cool?

All actors that play after copy one or the other. You can easily find out which style it is by lookin at the cloth they wear and their hair. If their hair mess up after fight then it is Sean Connery style. If their hair stay in place, then it is Roger Moore style. Pierce Brosnan is Roger Moore style. The last Bond and Timothy Dalton are Sean Connery style. Since I grew up during Roger Moore era, I prefer Pierce Brosnan's Bond.

I found the quick edits in 2 were worse than 3; the director held them a little longer in the most recent one.
Oh, and Casino Royale kicked all kinds of ass. Dalton was a Ken doll; no life and no lust. Just a generic hump where his crotch should have been. Cripes, they could have replaced him with Mister Rogers.
